Crank up the heat on the welder. It will burn away any offending paint. I removed the stock baffle by cutting the spot welds, then enlarged the sump of the pan by several inches in front and about 3" on either side. Essentially added about 1.5 quarts of oil capacity and even added fins to act as heat sinks to the bottom of the pan near the crossmember to wick out some heat. No idea if it actually works as the temp never goes high no matter what i do. All in all it cant hurt and i feel like the extra capacity will get me that extra doughnut i want.

Lmao. I ran i to a guy i went to high school with recently. I thought he was fairly ok back then but figured out in about 30 seconds hes an idiot nowadays. To begin with hes one of those arseholes with the crappy stereo blasting rap music at the gas pump so everyone can enjoy it. I was kind of close to goi g over and laying him out with the help of 3-4 other rednecks at the station. Next thing i know he walks over to me and tells me he used to have one of those.(im in the conquest) when he starts talking i recognize his voice and we strike up a little nostalgic conv. As we talk, he tells me about the twin turbo supra like mine he used to have but it got wrecked and totalled. Then he proceeds to tell me that him and some buddies go drifting across town in an empty parking lot. Trust me, if there was parking lot drifti g going on in the little town i live in, i would know it. Then he adds the part that hes drifting in a isuzu impulse. He says its harder for him but he does it in reverse. And then proceeds to tell me that he usually does it with his son in the car thats 5 yrs old. All i could think was poor kid to have such an idiot dad. About this point i got in and just drove off.

My last manifold i built from stainless had some not so pretty welds. I wanted to cover them up so i wrapped it with header wrap. About six months later i heard exhaust leaks, pulled it off and unwrapped it to find it cracked up like a roadmap to cracktown. Im not 100% sure but i kind of feel like the wrap held too much heat against the stainless. when i attempted to weld up the cracks it welded like shiat. Started doi g some research and came to ths conclusion that the problem was carbide precipitation. Basically the extreme temps caused a molecular change in the metal. The carbon in the stainless migrates to the surface, combined with the carbon coming from the exhaust, the stainless becomes much more carbon filled than it started out. Steel with lots of carbon is either really strong or really brittle. In my case it became brittle. Im worried that insulating the turbo may cause some sort of the same results. I dont feel like the supposed heat benefits are worth the possible damages.

I assume your talking old mustang. I always thought the seats from some of the chev tahoes or may e the 2k ish up chev trucks would look great with the seat belts in the upper corner of the seat. Could sort of kill two birds w one stone maybe. Not sure ive ever seen them in leather.

I was all about to go off on the price and then a low watt lightbulb went off in my head and i realized wait a minute, i tend to charge higher prices for jobs i dont like to do. I disagree with 2k per side. that's a bit steep. ive been a body man for most of my adult life and quarter panels are just a regular part of bodywork. I would probabaly price them out at about 800-1k$ per side and that's if im cutting off the old one and cutting off the new used quarter to go back on. I do not want to put on a quarter panel that someone else cut off. if your going to cut it off, cut high up near the roof, cut long down the rocker panel and all the way thru leaving me 3-4 inches of excess material and inner structure, then cut the inner wheel tub all the way around and cut off part of the rear body panel and a portion of the inner rear quarter close to the trunk floor. leave the body man plenty of room to peel the quarter panel the way he wants and trim it to fit. if there is rust, yes it will run the price up. now im not including any paint. that will make your price hit he roof.

Ok. This meet is dwindling bad. Looks like im not goi g to make it this weekend.,ive got more thi gs to get done than i can possibly do and i need to take advantage of the little bit of warm weather. I move that we reschedule the meet for another weekend in december. And possibly a different place. Id like to see a meet down near summit. Little more car friendly and at least go shopping at summit and its more car friendly. Anyone else got anything to add, or what works best for everyone to reschedule.

Lmao jimmy. Yea the south end is pretty darn nice. Its when the south end ends up on her shoulders that it becomes a problem and its all too often. And has nothing to do with the position of her ankles, although that does help for a few hours.

My wife is the south end of a horse going north. If i wanted to go get parts from out of town i would hear about that for 3 days before and 3 weeks after. Interesting part is that im the one that makes the money. I have to just do what i have to and ignore her.

i have ran resonator to change the tone. worked just fine but ive never really liked the tone of our cars any which way ive ever done the exhaust. i agree, go for the 3". before i went big turbo and mpi, i ran a 3" straightpipe witha big 16g. really made the turbo spool nicely and wasnt nearly as loud as you would have thought. not quiet, but not that loud.i say try it as a straightipe with no muffler and if you dont like it you can always come back and change it.
