  1. Still working on body work here too. It till be done this spring! The cold temps are killing any paint progress lately. Debating starting on the Valencia LS swap while I wait for warmer days. I just have enough catastrophe going on with one project

TechBoy, i didn't know you ended up with Joe's VR4!? I knew he sold it, but never asked who it went to. I can also confirm that was an engine from John.

Other than that, the house projects always keep me busier than I'd like!

  2. I have debated leaving the foam out. They are just there for impact as far as I know. Not sure how much, if at all, it might affect the structure over time. I recently had my new to me front and rear bumper supports blasted, zinc coated and then powder coated to try and fight any future rot. My original supports were in real bad shape.

So I came here, as I decided to go with made engine and transmission mounts, instead of using stuff by my buddy Giffin.

    I then ran across these:

Talk to Mikie over at MKS motorsports. I think those mounts are a great idea, but I hear there may be some issues in actually acquiring them.

    WELCOME ABOARD!!

  4. Maybe it fried the ignitor box? That wouldn't make sense for everything to cook though. Since you grounded it to the body the return path wiring on the negative side could have been damaged too. You will measure 12V, but you may not be referencing the same ground potential as the battery. Can you hear the main relay pull in when you turn on the ignition?

Electrical schematics are available at starquestgarage.com I would focus on ground points if you are already seeing 12Vin places.

I have found it much easier to go without any idle control on the G54, it has lots of torque at 900 rpm and can handle the AC and power steering without issue, unlike a Miata for example.  If you set hot idle for 900-950 rpm then the only issue is cold idle, right around 600, but you can fix that with your foot.

I agree. Years back I used a PWM valve for idle control. It did work well once it was all figured out. Then one day it stuck open and scared the snot out of me. Removed and never looked back. My foot is the cold start "fast idle controller" now
