Were ya stranded? Maybe I or somebody can help.
-
Scott, its fixed. The ignition adapter was wired backwards apparently, and i was using the wrong white wire from my aem wideband. Oh, and i switched the two ground for the injectors too. I still have a bit of a dirty tach signal, but it now is tunable and drives good. Thanks for all your help.
-
Get one, they are done very well. I got mine at nats.
-
Thanks Scott, I'll double check it later tonight. Dang, if its just a miss wired ignition adapter, i might have to try and kick my own behind! But i have checked it several times, I have even moved the wires around and it will still run but even worse. Interesting for sure.

Here is the VE Table.... http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3191/3639335045_a0cf1dfe47_o.jpg

Yep, the is a resistor pack. It gets power from the old injector driver, and has the positive leads to the injectors. The ecu grounds them to get them to fire. Yep, I'll get the ve table posted when I get to the house later tonight.

Tech, Thanks for pointing out that rpm issue, I had not noticed that. Weird for sure, something to look into. I did calibrate the tps with the engine off however, and it sweeps from 0 to 100 with no issues. Zac, I'll make the suggested changes and see what happens. Maybe that greyed out required fuel of 13 is the prob. But I dont know how to change it. Oh and I changed that TPSdot per a FIP post, it used to be .977. Decel enrichment could be a prob, but my issue seems to be on accel. Related? Dunno but I'm willing to try it and see what happens. Scotty, Its a FIP pro2 that is suppossed to have two matching bosch type injectors at 1020 cc each. I can confirm that they are both bosch but I dont know the flow rate since I bought this used and can only assume that they are the injectors that came with the kit. But whatever the case, they are not stock injectors.

Well, I continue to jack with the ecu and make a few changes with no success. I might put a 3' hose on my fuel pressure gauge and tape it to the windshield or something to monitor the fuel pressure, but I don't really think there is an issue with it. I have too, thought about disconnecting the vac advance and take it for a spin and see if it runs better. Of course I will stay out of the boost if I do that. I did datalog it a bit and you can clearly see in the log that when I step on the gas to get going it leans out. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3643/3633697043_880c50cced_o.jpg And i make a small video of reseting the TPS, the car idling, and fuel pressure. Then you can see me out in the street trying to get it pull itself up a slight incline. I can finally get it to go if I rev the hell out of it, but the mixture still goes massive lean. The quality is not so good, and you cant always make out the wideband, but I think you'll see what I am trying to explain. thanks

Yep, a stock tps. Are you refering to the TPSdot Threshold?
-
Zactek, I think i misunderstood your post about the TPS. What i meant is when calibrating the lowest setting i could get was 47. Once set however, at idle the tps shows 0% I did rotate it fully left and locked it down and now the lowest setting is 11 but it doesnt seem to make any difference. Here is a pict of my ecu setting in case someone here can point out what a dumb @#$ i am and what setting need to be changed..... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2475/3630284521_d89d79a653_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2449/3631099812_2b0f9a39b3_o.jpg

Interesting comments on the TPS. I figured it didnt matter what the "start" value was as long as it was calibrated with FIP. I currently have the TPS adjusted so that its in the middle of its adjustment range. I will try clocking it full right or left and see if that helps. It sweeps cleanly however with no dead spots. Thanks for all the help.

Shiltron, I have around 21" of vac at idle, but I'm not sure what i have at 2000. As far as fuel flow, I dont have an in cabin gauge. I am running one of the fuel rail and can only check it at idle. But i do have the return line hooked up. Oh, and i did have this car running on a stock ecu, and while it had issues, it ran fairly well. The exhaust could be an issue, but I don't think thats it. I put a new walbro fuel pump on it, and main fuel filter, but i havent pulled the sock filter in the tank to check it.
-
Scott, both are good suggestions. I will check them. I did have my MAP tee'ed into my boost guage vac line, and the map was showing around 74kpa at idle. So I removed the boost gauge and ran the map on its own line, and it dropped down to around 36kpa at idle and holds it there. TPS has been calibrated too, but the wierd thing there is that the "start" value is 47 which i think is a bit high, and the "end" valve around 255. So there might be something messed up there. And, how would i go about calibrating the map? Thanks

All, I have resently installed a FIP ecu in my car. This is the second system I have installed, since I have it in my MPI car too, so I figured this would be cake to install since I had experience with it. Installations was easy, and it fires right up. I have stock ignition and timing right now, sparks is good, and its getting 38 lbs of fuel pressure at idle. Timing is set at 10bdtc, and it holds it fine there when running at idle. By all appearances at idle its going to be a good running car, but the problem is when you try to get the car rolling. As soon as you rev it and start to let the clutch out, it dies. It wont climb the slightest of hills, and when it does this the af ratios go masssive lean, with the wideband gauge showing leaner than 17-1. I have jacked with the maps, the accel and warmup enrichments, required fuel so much that i have been tempted to just sell or part the @#$ thing out. Anybody have a suggestion or something they think I can do to get this running right? Thanks

Anybody know the thread size and pitch for the oil cooler bango bolts? The reason I ask is I just had my turbo rebuilt and the water fittings are the same size, and I need to pick these fittings up before I can get the turbo installed. Much thanks.

I agree its most likely the MAS. Mine does the same, and I have done most of all the things you did. Changed out injectors to trilogys, installed a fuel pressure gauge to check pressure and its is 38 at ilde, and removed my bov thinking it was the prob. I got frustrated with it and started to install a FIP system with no MAS.

Looks good.

Selling that black ovcp? Could be interested if ya are.

Tired Of Sweating In The GA Summers
gofastredstar replied to Starfighterpilot's topic in Virtual Mechanic
Hey guys, while I am no expert, I resently got my a/c working. But I took it to a shop to have all the pieces flushed. I understand this to be necessary if the components have been open for a long time. And I also had new 134a compatable hoses made. It now blows pretty cold. -
Indiana, your the man! I pushed the pin out on the distrib, rotated the gears and restabbed it. Now I can get 16 degrees on the timing light and 16 degrees on the ecu, and the distrib is right in the middle of the adjustment slot. As soon as I can get some help I will set the timing at TDC while cranking, but wow, I'm stoked that this is fixed. Indiana, I sure owe ya, case o'beer or something. I have had this issue for over a year now. Here is a small vid of it running after rotating the gears....
-
Well #%$. Looks like I'm stuck then because I pulled my distrib, and the pins is 180 degrees of each other. Looks like I'm out of options.

Bad AF numbers on AEG Eugo wideband?
gofastredstar replied to Strickdawg's topic in Advanced Virtual Mechanic
Indiana, I am running both 02sensors with the wideband only going to the gauge, and the narrow band going to the ecu. I suspect I am pulling in to much air somewhere, and leaning towards the MAS. If thats not the case, then it might be a sensor, but i did a tps/isc reset about 6 months ago. Humm, maybe its time again.
