  1. Well, I'm back.. lol.. haven't owned a Starquest since the early 2000's. Slowly sold off my stash of parts til there was nothing left, and then, 20+ years later, a buddy of mine called me a few days ago and said he found one of "my cars" while he was out garage sale hopping with his wife. When he and I met, he live directly behind me, and he had a clear view of the dozen or so Starquests I had in my backyard at the time, and he immediately recognized this one that had been parked in this particular garage for over 30 years by its original owner.. talk about a barn/garage find.. He forwarded the guys info to me because the owner conveyed to him that he wanted to get rid of it.. I immediately reached out to the guy and bought it sight on scene. Didn't even haggle with him on his absurdly low asking price. I didn't even know it was a 89 Starion til I got there. I assumed it was a Conquest because it was missing the Mitsubishi badge up front from the pics he originally sent me, but I guess it had been repainted at some point and the emblems were not reinstalled. 3 hrs later she was in my driveway, title and keys in had. Today I officially registered it in my name after some back and forth over not doing that since it was verified as a one owner car, but I decided it wasn't worth the risk keeping it with a open title which the original owner could null and void at anytime by going and printing another one at the DMV.. Now, I was never a Starquest puriest, and I'm definitely not one now, but I know this Starion needs to go to a new home with someone who is, and now that I've got the Starquest bug again, I'll probably end up buying one i could modify to my liking with a clear conscious.. in the process of going thru her to get her back road worthy, but she is a clean example to start with.. no rust any where, no major body damage, clean Carfax, all exterior and interior parts intact, and she even started up and ran smoothly with some starter fluid after I pulled the plugs and bathed the pistons rings and cylinder walls in Marvel Mystery Oil over night. Oil pressure was great, charging system came right up to normal voltage, and the a/c clutch even engaged. Now have to replace the entire fuel system, replace all the rubber accessories, replace the clutch master cylinder, (clutch pedal is sitting on the floor) and whatever else it's going to need from sitting for so long. The fun part has just begun.. lol
