  1. Hi all, Like the title says I'm looking for an ICM, I believe also known as a knock box for my 87 Starion but I can't afford the 400 rock auto price, hoping to find one for around a tenth of that. Thanks for reading and for your time.
  2. Update: still no luck, current theory is the master relay, or whatever relay is down by the heater box. Not sure yet, the mechanic I have working on it is going to have a friend who knows older cars better to run his own diagnostics to be sure.
  3. Just from the pics it looks fairly easy to do. Just takes a somewhat steady hand. Next time my car is in the shop for a long time I may look for an extra one and attempt that
  4. I'm running 3mm in mine, nice and tight for my Starion
  5. How much for the side vents? Also are you willing to ship them?
  6. I can't tell from the eBay pics, do these work with a stock MAS or for you just use the piping with an adapter like the one from cosmo racing?
  7. Okay, if that's the diagnosis he gives me I'll take the car back and search for one here on the forum. I'll keep everyone posted on how things are going.
  8. I started repairing it using the bondo bumper epoxy and mesh fabric. So far it's working great and looks damned good after some sanding. It's a good measure until I can do an order with Nicofab, for now it's on to primer and repainting.
  9. Naw, I replaces the vac advance and then it wouldn't start. Figured I knocked it's timing out of whack. Removed it to readjust it when I noticed the wires were pretty brittle. Then I replaced the wires, still no go.
  10. An update: I couldn't figure it out so I had it taken in at a local shop. He thinks it's the ignitor or wire going to the master relay cuz there is no power getting to it. At least that's what I could gather from the phone conversation we had. I'm already a bit of a newb when it comes to cars and the electrical aspect goes over my head. Fingers crossed he can find the loss of power without tearing out all the electrical.
  11. Came across this while randomly surfing the Internet. Wondering if anyone has one, curious to know if they are complete bunk or not http://www.performancechipsdirect.com/Mitsubishi/Starion/
  12. Mkay I'll look into him, have some other stuff to work on first, but I'll inquire him about his prices and such
  13. I know a guy who is teaching an A/C repair class at the local community college. Free labor, all I need to do is pay for parts
  14. Yeah from that info I found is how I came to the conclusion to get the bondo stuff. Figure the fiber cloth can't hurt, only add some structure, thanks speedyquest
  15. I pass that shop all the time. Somone abandoned it at that shop cuz of the classic stumble problem. They got it running good again. All stock. Thought they would ask more for it
  16. It was pretty wrecked when I got the car. Cracked to all he'll and held in with a leather car bra and zip ties. Never knew till I took the bra off. Been trying different epoxies but the hot weather up here has been causing them to unbond, gonna try bondo bumper repair and fiberglass cloth backing this time around
  17. Good to know, in that case it doesn't seem too worth it to put it all back in. The vents and fans still work fine, just no cold air. I'll learn to live with it
  18. Like the title says this is probably a dumb question. But it's getting awfully hot up here in Oregon and a previous owner seems to have removed the A/C condenser and such. So why exactly? I doubt it was that heavy so weight can't be it. I can see to make room for other stuff maybe? Or does it actually make the engine run better to not have one? Noob question I know but I've never had a car with ac before so I've had nothing to compare to. Thanks everyone
  19. Had to take my air dam off to get some work done and it once again cracked. Wondering if there are sturdier alternatives then the flexible plastic that seems to come apart in this hot summer heat. Metal comes to mind. Has anyone done this before? I understand it would have to be a complete custom job. Just mad at my current one and may have to replace in the near future, can keep repairing it forever.
  20. Here is a link for surveyor 22, make work a little better Co pared to the stock of one. Been debating replacing mine just cuz it's 30 year old rubber. That or I'll spring for a cold air intake http://m.ebay.com/itm/MK1-BLACK-SILICONE-TURBO-TO-AIRCAN-TUBE-HOSE-STARION-/160491144967?nav=SEARCH
  21. Those were the only ones if found D awhile ago. When I types starion into eBay they didn't pop up. Only found some plastic ducting ones. I'll check under his store. Thanks Texasquest
  22. I found those awhile ago but haven't been able to find them anywhere since. Wouldn't happen to have a little handy?
