Don't take this the wrong way, but I find this community to sometimes be way too optimistic. Something to ask yourself when taking on a project... What is it you want and what is it worth? Many times I see people want a million, but the effort isn't with half that, and it never gets finished. If you want station vibe but mid engine, toyota mr2 and pontiac fiero did it for you. You can grab a starion and mr2, fix both up very very nicely... And it will cost less time and money than the mid engine starion. But if you think you can do it, get the welder out and go to town.

I know a guy who buys the most awful unreliable pos cars. He usually takes a moped with him. He's usued it numerous times to get to work on time after blowing a head gasket or something.

Oh hell nah. I bought it for esentially scrap price. I want to stick a u pull alt in, touch up the part that got keyed, and let my girl drive it for a few months till she gets bored of having a car. I'm just paranoid that at 200k it might eat a turbo next month, a tranny the following month, and spin a bearing after that. I don't want my free to cost a fortune for just a few months.

Not trying to get this debate started... But your right. The usual, someone new buys a $3k quest, can't keep up with the repairs. Tries to sell it but there's far more supply than demand, so ends up parting it. Then people on here get all but hurt about it. Some dude thinks the 944 is better, so be it.
