  1. Black is too mainstream I paint all my blocks with this metallic blue engine paint by HVT (I think). I've got some pics somewhere of my 88 block painted that color and some from my 87. I'll see if I can find them and the paint code. - Charles
  2. I haven't updated the list on here, but the woman has the pads and the updated list of people. The pads came in just under a week ago and I've been super busy with college. I'm just waiting on her now, so once she's finished then they're on their way to you. Sorry for the hold up. Just had to wait for the pads from China so I could keep costs down. - Charles
  3. Same question for the louvers. Interested if you have the sides. - Charles
  4. I need that auto. Why so far away?! Oh well. At least my need isn't urgent - Charles
  5. I had that little inner o-ring for the accordion boot disintegrate on me one day while just cruising. DESTROYED the comp wheel. Took it apart, swapped in a spare comp/exhaust combo with the same bearings and not a prob 6,000+ miles later at 15psi. Was just supposed to be temporary, but it works, so no need to mess with it yet. Just because it looks that bad from the front means nothing for the rest until you tear it apart. I forsee getting a new compressor wheel (it'll be already balanced), get the turbine balanced by itself (or get a new one if the shaft is broken, which will already be component balanced), and then throw it together with a rebuild kit. Might cost you about $150-$200. - Charles
  6. Check the good ol pivot pin where the master cylinder connects to the pedal under the dash. Could have had the pin get side ways or come out partly or just so much play that it's angling the rod. Check that and then take it from there. At the least, you won't hurt it by checking, fixing that point. - Charles
  7. +1 For getting with Randy(DAD) about those parts. And +1 for the Weisco pistons. When going forged, I never mess with any other brand. - Charles
  8. Over all the years, why has nobody reproduced these? Might be a decent set to fix and use for a mold? - Charles
  9. It looks like a Datsun Z, RX7, and early 80s mustang puked into one pile to create it. I agree with quikconq...not feeling it. Not even looking at it again. - Charles
  10. Oh, and you won't know the true extent of the damage (nor will we) until you tear that thing down and get a good look at the housings. - Charles
  11. It looks like something went through it rather than bad shaft play. Something BIG! Part of the accordion boot inner O-Ring perhaps? Ask me why I guessed that As long as the housings aren't torn up (looks as though it might be alright) and if the exhaust turbine didn't take a beating, I'd say grab a new comp wheel on ebay (a good one) for about $40, have the turbine and the wheel COMPONENT balanced, get a rebuild kit, and call her done! Why do I say component balanced? Because if this ever were to happen again or the comp wheel ever touches the housing, you can get a new compressor wheel and not have to worry about getting things balanced I'd say rebuild her! - Charles
  12. PMing on Vac Advance and Injector... - Charles
  13. Make them. That's the best and essentially the ONLY way. Most of the fitting sizes and adapters are stated in the FAQ section. I need to get some more info in there on the PS and coolant lines, but haven't gotten around to typing it all up. - Charles
  14. I'm trying to get rid of that nasty, hardened accordian hose. Had too many detrimentally fail and/or disintegrate. I actually found a universal aluminum intake pipe that has a ~65* bend, which is about perfect for getting the MAF in the right spot. As for the filter, I wasn't aware that the Spectre universal came with "adapters". I'll certainly grab one then since it would at least be better than the cheap eBay filters. Appreciate the help in locating this stuff. At the very least it gives me options. - Charles
  15. I saw that on ebay along with a K&N. I don't feel as though it's worth paying that much right now for an air filter when the car still needs so much extra parts. When I start laying down 300+hp, I'll probably grab one. Just trying to find some cheaper options for now. I'm all for putting down the money for stuff that deserves the price tag. Just not an air filter at the moment. lol I'll try the coupler idea first. Thanks for the link though - Charles
  16. Ah, I see. I might try one thing before I try stretching it over. What I may try first is grab a 3.25", 3-ply coupler as it's usually about 4-4.5mm thick. That'll put the OD right around 3.5" give or take. Then slip over a 3.5" filter. Essentially, the coupler will serve as an adapter. Thoughts? - Charles
  17. Are you staying that a 3" coupler will stretch over the 3.25" flange on the 3" maf? And how exactly would that translate to the filter? A bit confused on the details... - Charles
  18. It appears to me in his post, he has a new head. If the lower end is what's used, don't count on it dying soon at 100k. The motor in my 88 was original up to 250k. These lower ends are very strong from factory. I wouldn't count it out by any means. If you're that worried, get some new bearings and a lower gasket set and slap them in there. It'll be good for another 200k probably. Just my 2.6 - Charles
  19. There's nothing that's 3.25". I find it hard to believe that it's this hard to find a filter that size. I see plenty of 3" and 3.5". Hmmmm... - Charles
  20. Argh! Well, I hope somebody else wants a blue pad at some point cause now I have another pair. Lol. Luckily I ordered extra black pairs Payment received. I'll get with everyone about their address when I go to ship them. - Charles
  21. Sweet! I'll check it out. Any ideas on sourcing the 3.25" filter? All I could find under universals is 3" - Charles
  22. Obviously the pipe is something I could make, but before I do, does anyone have a source for a pipe with the correct angle that would work? I see some universals that look like they have something like a 60* bend, but I'm not sure. I also need a filter that will fit right to the GM maf. I have the 3", which makes the flanges 3.25". Post up your ideas! I really want this darn thing on the car! - Charles
  23. Payment received, bud. I'll keep you updated. All pads have been ordered and are on their way. - Charles
