For the lift lever...I would almost say you could dip it/cover it in paint and give it a day or so to cure enough. I don't really know that one. I left those alone. You can take them off by one little screw in the side of each one. Lift em up and you'll see em.

I found simple shoe polish to help with the discoloration. Don't get the liquid though. Get the pasty kind. And make sure you wipe ALL of it back off
