Looking for relays for headlights. Do these just pry off or do I need the whole thing.

Headlights turn on but won't come up. Tried new dash switch and fusible link. Do these relays just pry out? Or do I need the whole thing? -
What's a good exhaust to buy. I'm getting rid of cats

Turns out there's no emission requirements for classic or antique cars in Pennsylvania. I replaced the turbo and manifold a few years ago. Figure I might as well keep going. I've got a down pipe to use too. Does anyone have any good exhaust notes they can post? -

Adding performance parts - incrementally
XSubsailor replied to XSubsailor's topic in Flatbody Mechanic
My mechanic seems more courageous than I. I asked him about adding an intercooler and he said it was just an extra radiator and some hoses. Not having another starquest to look at, or even get an idea what I'm getting myself into, I'm not as brave. I just don't know what all I truly need to go inter cooled. Is there a post on this subject anywhere on this site? I'd like to do it if it'll make my car more reliable and last longer. I want to keep driving it as long as I can. -

If I don't have to worry about emissions, I guess I should go without a Catalytic Converter. Will this hurt the car? Do I need any special modifications to do that? I see Top End Performance has some options. http://www.racetep.com/bpipe.html -
I've got a stock 1985 non intercooled flatty. My mechanic says I should look into a Cat Back exhaust and a cold air intake. Any recommendations? It looks like the cold air intakes I've seen are universal fit. http://www.discountairintake.com/store/?N=0&VN=4294967243+4294966732+4294966589+4294967247+4294966614&Nr=AND%28OR%28category:Air%20Intake,%20category:Fuel%20Delivery%29,universal:1%29&Ntt=air+intakes It looks like HKS has a Cat Back, anybody running with any others? I had the catalytic converters replaced about 10 years ago. But the last time it was tested it failed emissions. Now that I've got classic car tags I no longer get tested but I'm wondering if they should just get removed. http://www.gripmotorsports.com/ps~pnd~turbo_exhaust-hks.html I'm not looking to throw more than $500 at a time every few months or so. But cold air in and more air out sounds like a good idea for a hot turbo. I'm guessing it'll help.

Where do I find a non intercooled turbo?
XSubsailor replied to XSubsailor's topic in Flatbody Mechanic
Well, I have an 85 Conquest that wasn't intercooled. However it always boosted to 7 and I've had it since '87. I always wondered why the boost gauge went up to 14 when it would only ever get half way there. -

Thanks Tim, You were dead on. The actuator arm was new. The actuator arm gives more boost the shorter it is. I pulled the pin out, made about 3 turns on it and got 2 more pounds of boost. It's too hot for further adjustment today. I'll fine tune it some more tomorrow. It was nice to hear the new turbo whine correctly and not screeching like the old one. -

OK guys, here's the next question. I got the turbo replacement started and found the manifold cracked right under it. Could see daylight thru the crack. Dad didn't have any manifolds at the time but I found one thru wholesale mopar ($197.47 a great deal) http://www.wholesalemopar.com/parts_catalog.html?gclid=CKrMgPPv5agCFYXc4Aod20fhDw It did take them a week and a half to get it to me, but I saved about $150. So now that it's all together and running the boost gauge only shows about 2 or 3lbs of boost. The car seems to run well but the boost isn't quite what I remember. I don't hear the turbo whine like I used to either. My mechanic says there's an air pump check valve leaking but he couldn't find the part. Did I get a bad turbo? Have a bad vacuum line? This older version turbo has an internal waste gate right? -
How much?

When you say surfaced. Do you just mean cleaning up where it mates to the cylinder head? Isn't replacing the manifold gasket, studs and nuts enough? BTW thanks.. I just purchased those from your link. I know a machine shop but I'm confused what else needs to be done and why. -

LOL! Howd you know my exhaust manifold was leaking? Can you recommend a good place to get the parts I need. (turbo gaskets, oil line, manifold gasket, studs)
