check your fusible links and grounds. also check/swap your ECI control relay under the right kick panel above the ECU.

my problem was with the knock box on my 87. I just upgraded it with an 88 ignition box, just kept the connector and wired it up. works great!

I have a parts car that's an 88, I'm sure this is what you need but I also had an 87 an don't know if they are interchangeable. not sure on the part numbers that I have.

my 87 knock box died and left me stranded. hard to find a 87 and below, but I was told to get about 6" from a harness of 88-89 igniter box and use that box instead as they more reliable. I did and just left off the 2 extra wires off, all others are color coded the same and it fired right up! Good luck finding one. I got a broke one if you want it!

Don't forget to replace your foam seals before install your tail lights, this will prevent water infiltration thus prevent the corrosion in the future. Make them from 1/4" foam using the old ones as a pattern. I'm still looking for the sockets then I can text or email pics to you. PM your info to me and ill do it this weekend.

I got a set last year, I still have some and the box it shipped in. I will check when I get home and let you know who I got them from.

Have you tried replacing the drive belts on yours yet? very hard to find one that works after 25 years. I did mine and it works fine now.

the shield looks like a round drink cup on the end of you trans. if your drive shaft is installed on the trans, you will see part of the input shaft from your u joint end (if your shield is NOT installed). If you can't see the shaft and the shield will cover it up to the u joint. I hope this helps.

while on jacks, check to make sure your forward drive shaft u joint in not rubbing on the back of your transmission output shaft shield. it will make a very loud grinding sound. I found mine out of round and could not straighten it so I just removed it from the back of the tranny. it's only pressed on the end and can easily be removed. good searching!

it could be your ecu. however, I was driving mine down the interstate and mine would shut down as if you turned the key off. after many hours of troubleshooting I found only the distributor and igniter box left it could be. and yes, I did change the ecu and it didn't help. I changed the igniter box out and it started right up! good luck with your issue... stick with it, you will get it!

Sorry Mike... I sold mine 3 months ago. I think everybody refers the as a Header Panel. whoever you get one from, make sure it's well packed... these get damaged easily or recommend buying it locally. Kenny

I got mine from Glass Masters out of Richmond. They had it in 1 day. install $168

injectors most likely. after rebuild mine... it ran really bad too. I replaced them and ran great. evidently from sitting for a year they will dry up and stick oper or closed.... mine was flooding out. It could be a simple vacuum leak too.

oh ok... I'll pull them and take pics this weekend for you Nightcall. But I still think maybe you 87 was built 6/87 and and below and maybe that's why it worked for you. My donar car is an 88.

just looked up parts for your locks. different part no#'s from 6/87 and below for ignition and trunk. sorry. mine will not work for you.
