  8. Car Down!!! Knock Box location?

    Hello,

     

    I was Driving along just fine and poof, car died and won't start. It turns just wont start, Acts like it is not getting fuel or spark. I pulled off the Throttle Body yesterday. I think it is getting fuel because the pressure of the fuel was good when I pulled off the line. Someone informed me that it may be the knock box and that they go out a lot on 86-87 models.

     

    I have been searching the archives and I was hoping someone could help me.

     

    I am looking for the location of the knock box on an 86 Starion ESI, also what it looks like. Pic would be great if available.

     

    Also does anyone else have any other idea's of what it could be? Thanks in advance.

    This was the car I had for sale about a month ago. Guy put down $200 deposit and never came back. I just decided to keep the car. Car was running great.... and then poof just died about a week ago. It acts like it is not getting gas, but after I pulled the TB I just don't know. Motor turns fine... its just not getting spark or fuel. Anyway the Turbo Spools up good to about 8lbs. Has a BOV that sounds good. Interior is great!! Manual seat belts! Very nice driver and rear leather. passenger leather is nice, but a little stiff. I have A LOT of spare parts. I am not currently interested in parting out any piece of this car, if I cannot sell it then I may reconsider. Car is from Arizona. Has a little rust on fenders but nothing too bad. I really love this car, but we are planning for a baby so this baby has to go to a good home. Let me know if you have any Questions. Here are some pics on this link. I will get more up ASAP. Car is located at ZIP 74129. I drove it from Tucson AZ to Tulsa OK last November with no issues. only fluid the car leaks is power steering.

    Well I've done my research and have been eying up these cars for quite some time... I've got the money.. but I'm having trouble finding the car.

    I live in Northwestern Pa.. don't really want to drive TOO far to get one of these, but distance I'm willing to drive also depends on the car.

    I'd like an 88 or 89 that has a decent amount of modification.. but done RIGHT... and not raced everyday! I'll also take a babied bone stock one. Blue, Red, or Black prefered... but doesn't matter a Whole lot.

    Let me know what you got! - Lets help a new enthusiast get his first starquest! :driving:

  19. 1999 Camaro SS in Oklahoma

    Well I am selling my baby for no other reason than I just don't drive it any more.

    She is a mint 1999 Camaro SS. This is a True SS by SLP not a Clone, I have all the documentation.

    She is a LS1 bone stock with the exception of the Magna Flow Exhaust and K&N Air Filter.

    Car is crazy powerful. As you can tell the car is near perfect. I have recently pulled the factory CD player out and replaced it with a Factory Cassette Player so that I can play my iPod with the cassette adaptor.

    The car has 120K miles. I used to work in Albuquerque and drove it all the time on the trip to Tulsa and back. I even have a black bra I would put on the car when I drove it on long trips to save the front end from rock chips!

    The only thing I would do to this car if I was going to keep it would be to replace the Clutch. The current one is a little stiff, but it works fine.

    I have tons of extras that I will include with the car.

    I am asking $10,000 for the car, or I will take partial trade for a built Starquest that is in good shape + cash.

    I was playing a computer game when I saw my 89 Starion slowly running away.....uphill. So I ran for my life thinking someone stole my car but no one was in it. It was just continually turning over and I kept hearing the starter motor whine. So thankfully I jumped in just before it hit another car and started it, but the stater motor kept running.

     

    This just happened out of the blue, didn't do anything mechanically or electronically to her in months. It started actually smoking from behind the intake for some reason...ugh. Any ideas? :character0292:

     

    I am very sorry, but that has to be the funniest car trouble story I have ever heard!! :hmm3grin2orange: I would have crapped myself if that happened to me. Glad you caught it!

  23. 87 style stereo tape deck

    I have purchased 3 factory StarQuest Stereos in the last 2 weeks and none of the tape players work! :angry:

     

    I am looking for one in good condition, with all the lights working, and a working tape player. I use paypal. or if anyone is interested I have a brand new Kenwood CD player with iPod/MP3 inlet jack, with a detachable face I can trade if interested. The Kenwood lights up amber and matches the factory colored lights good. It is only one month old and I still have box all and all paper work.
