Inglorious Basterds

The past three weekends have had a movie opening that I wanted to see in theaters - mostly D9 and IG

I'm in the same boat. Two Friday's in a row at the movies which is very unprecedented for me (since my teens anyways) because tickets at our local AMC are just 5 bucks instead of 10 if you see it anytime Mon-Thurs so I usually opt to wait but I couldn't wait for these two flicks.

Inglorious Basterds had me worried for a bit a little past the beginning. It seemed a little chatty and drug on for just a bit. It all paid off in the end however. The very last line was the perfect way to end the film.

"I think I've just created my masterpiece". Haha.

Brad Pitt was INCREDIBLE as was the rest of the cast.

Yeah, Chapter 1 I wasn't quite sure what to make of it till the very end - at least when there were in the cafe and Col.Hans Landa appears - it was just so freaking SUDDEN and how Tarantino introduced him into that scene, you started to piece things all together. I love that man, he cracks me up.

So does southern backwoods italian and mexican standoffs

IG WAS AWESOME.

without spoiling anything, i have to say it was great on many levels.

pure entertainment

comedy

tarantino poking fun at the audience's taste for violence

tarantino getting cinematic revenge and bringing to the screen some of the most vindicating scenes.

and yes, the last line was a great bit of directorial self reflection.

i kinda want to see it but im not sure about trusting you guys input anymore on movies. i went to see d9 a couple days ago and it totally sucked worse than anything that has ever sucked before. the previews looked good but the movie really lacked badly. so im not sure about this one. maybe ill just wait till it hits dvd.

lots of time movies depend on one's understanding. D9 has a ton of political subtext that might be lost on the average viewer.

inglorious basterds, has many levels of enjoyment, and the simplest and most obvious is a hilarious pulp fiction style movie set in WW2 era france under nazi control.

remember the first time you watched pulp fiction and how you laughed at

"and why am I on brain detail?? you the mother****** that shot him, you should be cleaning up this s***"

if you enjoy tarantino's dialogs and plot twists, then that alone is enough to go see this movie.

x2 - how the producer presented all the underlying themes in the movie is what made it a great movie. If you went there to see something that was a lot like StarWars, of course you'd be disappointed.

BINGOOOOO

save your money and go watch pulp fiction again. i thought it was slow. every scene was full of bs back and forth and then BOOM action and that was it.

that bar scene was stupid.

deathproof was way better.
