DzNutz
Here is a step by step of what I did just for the clock. I apologize for what I see as kinda crapy pix. pull the face trim apart from the display being carefull not to break the plastic tabs.... http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q272/DzG54BNutz/S4020553.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q272/DzG54BNutz/S4020554.jpg fold the display down and remove the bulb with the orange "sock" on it... http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q272/DzG54BNutz/S4020555.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q272/DzG54BNutz/S4020556.jpg solder in your resistor and LED ( I will get part #'s next time at Radio Shack).... http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q272/DzG54BNutz/S4020557.jpg Be sure to use electrical tape to prevent any contact of power grids.... http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q272/DzG54BNutz/S4020558.jpg Aim LED directly to clear refractor lens ( white difuser is already there factory).... http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q272/DzG54BNutz/S4020559.jpg tape off to prevent wire contact.... http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q272/DzG54BNutz/S4020560.jpg you end up with ignition off.... http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q272/DzG54BNutz/S4020562.jpg and on ( looks better in the dark)... http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q272/DzG54BNutz/S4020564.jpg I will get some night pix tonight. But like ALP247 said it is easily done by just removing the orange crap and replacing the bulb with the LED of your color choice. You can even wire the LED into the bulb holders to avoid soldering. alp247
hell yeah pretty much the same thing i did except you made a led and faced it on the plastic. natallica
Here's a few of mine if that helps... I used blue LED's from AutoZone and also recolored the buttons with transparent file folders (until I can get a better controller. Mines a tad broke) But they turned out O.K. http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff408/n8tallica1/100_2872.jpg http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff408/n8tallica1/100_2877.jpghttp://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff408/n8tallica1/100_2884.jpg http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff408/n8tallica1/100_2885.jpg Also, I will be offering 'custom made' 88-89 AC controller overlays (must remove original) in Orange and White, for those interested...GP will start by the end of this week. -N8 Edited December 14, 2011 by natallica

Laodicea
I want the temp indicator to turn from blue to red when I put it on 90 degrees. Or maybe 80 and up can be red and 79 and below can be blue. LOL dunno how difficult that would be but it seems like real difficult.
Zone
Looks like autzone don't carry them anymore.Ill have to find something that works. Thanks for the write up. EDIT:I think the best way to do this mod is to take out the clear plastic under the LCD in the clock and slide a LED strip underneath.and for the AC unit put the strips in the a white plastic box and curve it then use hot glue to hold it nicely.
