Alum Radiator with 1 or 2 Fans?

So of those of you that have an alum radioator setup, what do you have for Fans?

My last setup i went with 2x smaller fans, this time i'm thinking of going with one large Fan.

Lets assume some things here too...

Like.... 1 Large fan pushing 3000cfm, and 2 small Fans pushing 1500 Each

what are you using and what do you see as the benefit/loss of using 2/1 fans?

Redundancy. If one fan fails, the other might keep going... being unlikely that two fans will fail at the same time.

Smaller fans are likely to last longer, less forces being applied to thier internal parts and bearings.

LOL at me?

Come on,

Why do people automatically assume that things are going to fail. My car has completely been gone through and Everything touched or replaced. No more crappy fusible link system or anything.

i don't plan on it failing and my car is in immaculate shape that i dont see any electrical errors in its Future.

if ya can't answer me on how well they will function thats okay, thanks for the TTTs though

I would use two fans for a reason that happened recently. A co-worker of my wife was driving and ran over a plastic bag. It lodged in the fan stopping it. The car overheated and warped the head before they noticed the guage.

Even new parts are known to fail. But I would imagine, that two fans would be better simply cuz of strenght in numbers? One has an unfortunately mishap, a spossibility. Two having a mishap, unlikely.

But that's just my 2 cents. I'm sure one good fan can do the work w/ an aluminum rad, but two seem better than one.

I'm running one fan, a 2950cfm Perma-Cool aluminum bladed electric fan. Rated to pull 12amps, so I'm running it off a stock relay (which is rated at 21amps)

It does a great job, and isn't really louder than the 2 stock fans running together

I was laughing at your words "no chance of failure".

Of course you don't go around assuming things are going to fail, you just have to be prepared for it.

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings, but you didn't specifically ask on how well they will function... you said "what are benefits/loss" and I told you FACT, not opinion.

If you don't want an answer, don't ask a question.

True statement here..^..when my main fan fail, the smaller fan got me home, run a little hot(up to 215) but I was careful not to boost and with the heater full blast.

You didnt hurt my feelings, just waited my time. I thought i was pretty clear, especially when i posted back saying brand new fans with no chance of failure. Next time i'll be double sure to post all ins and outs of my query for ya.

interesting, do you drive the car hard? does it cool well then?

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!

Guess we're all wasting your time then, since new=no chance of failure.

Surface area means squat with good fans. Blade design/motor strength trumps fan blade size.

Get a good brand or even better retrofit an OEM fan, and you'll be fine. I've used a POS clutch fan without a shroud on a stock radiator with zero temp issues in Arizona.

Your not adding anything to this post, your not giving me any information, your just trolling, but if you have any input that would prove why two working fans is better or not as good as one fan, I'd be interested to hear.

As far as blade design, what do you consider superior? Ive never really looked at anything other than size and CFM flow. I figure they calculate blade design and number of blades and all that in when they calculate CFM flow.

My problem is I've got 2 perfect running fans and a perfect condition Radiator, but when i take side roads or race the car, my cooling system can not keep up with the heat my car is producing. So i am going to get a alum radiator, but dunno on Fans yet. Might just see if i can adapt my stock fans

I gave you proven information, you just didn't want to accept it. Three different people and I gave the same input on why two working fans are better than one fan... yet for some reason you are obviously not interested in hearing it, at least not from me, no need to lie about that.

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

Don't accuse me of acts you don't know the definition of.

You may have something amiss in your cooling system besides the fans and the radiator. Do both fans come on often??

Do you still have your A/C condensor installed?? It may be clogged blocking airflow to the radiator.

Have you had your radiator rodded?? When was the last time the radiator cap was changed?? What temp thermostat are you using??

Be sure there are no leaks, and that the system is topped up, as a low system may make the car over heat slightly under anything but normal driving.

I'll ignore your first post and since Trolling is a freaking slang term who the hell is to say what the definition is? sheesh

However...

Both Fans Run all the time.

I have no AC components, (condenser, lines, compressor, ALL removed)

Radiator has been rodded, Cap is new and less than a year/2k miles, I'm using the OEM Mitsu Thermostat bought from the dealer, which is also less than a year/2k miles.

No Leaks and system is properly mixed, water pump is also less than 5k miles old

I suppose my fans could be running slow... However they appear to be in good shape and turn as fast as any other starquest rad fan ive seen.

if you've got any other ideas i'd be interested

Both fans running all the time = bad. Something is wrong and causing your car to run too hot. You may need a 180 thermostat, I don't know what they are from the dealer, I think depending on what year you ordered for it may be a 195 (pre-87). You can get 180's at vatozone or similar.

Do you have an aftermarket temp gauge?? If so, what degrees is it reading at?? What is the stock gauge reading at when the first fan comes on, what is it reading at when the second fan comes on??
