what is a good aftermarket fuel filter to buy?

Recommended Posts

while i'm building all of my braided lines, i'm going to get an aftermarket fuel filter also. what would be a good one to buy? my line is -6an, after looking through some i noticed max psi for them, what is a good max psi?

i saw that Indiana is using this one:

it is 75max psi, will that be enough?

i found a a russel performance filter(that is almost identical to the earl's above), on ebay brand new for a cheap amount. it is also 75psi, if that is enough i may bid on it

also, what is a good adj. fuel pressure reg? i notice a lot of people using the aeromotives, which one would be the right one to buy?

The stocker is not bad depending on what fuel PSI you will be running. The reason John and I put it on my truck was to save room and because the Mopar injecters I have need at least 55PSI and that without any boost rising rate on it. Also come it looks kool 8) :P

I forget but that filter with the stainless screen wire had holes so big sand would pass through and there was a cartridge that went inside of it and we didn't show that part

you want this one

not that other one

******Maximum filtration for fuel systems.

These Earl's in-line fuel filters provide maximum protection for fuel systems. They're available in your choice of a screen filter or a sintered bronze element. Either unit can be easily disassembled for inspection and cleaning. The filter housings are available with size -6 AN, -8 AN, or hose barb ends (bronze element only) for use with Earl's high-performance fuel line and fittings. They have a fuel flow of 4 to 5 gpm, and come in a nice blue anodized finish.

75 psi should be plenty, there is some built in over run on that and keeping in mind 95 percent of the time you will not be anywhere near that

lol hey monty come on 95% lol i'm in my boost 95% :P Come on monty don't lie 8) :P

thats because you are the lead footed bandit !!!

That first one had a 85 micron filter element while the 2nd had a 35 micron filter. In my opinion both are not near fine enough. Most injectors need the fuel filtered to 10 microns in order to not clog up over time.

those earls filters are rated at just 75 psi max, i think they are rated for carb use or some other lower pressure system.

i think this is a pretty good one. i like this because it already comes with male fitting ends.
