ZPI28 Posted May 13, 2004 Report Share Posted May 13, 2004 I went to a boneyard yesterday and they had about 7 D50,MM trucks there all with 3.909 on the tags.. I asked about the gears and he said he would only sell the whole rearend. Which is understandable. He wants $200 for one.. I may be able to get them for $150 or less at another yard. Ill be check on this today hopefully. My goal is to have sets of 3.90 gears available for around $175-$200 shipped.. Its alot to me for used gears , but still a whole lot cheaper than buying new ones. I will get with Haztoys about this and see what else needs to be done.. artinist Posted May 17, 2004 Report Share Posted May 17, 2004 those gears are plenty around here at the yards and they do sell just the gears which would be less than $20. the trouble is getting those damn axles out of the differential so the gears will come out. First you would have to find a wrecker that would seperate the third member from the housing and axles (doubtful).... We know your cheap artinist, but get real.... Ask me how I know :oops: Until someone has problems with a set of used gears I don't see why anyone else should waste there money on a new set. Talk to Haztoys if anyone would have had a problem it would be him. Apparently he and his wife beat the hell out of their cars and have not yet experienced issues with used gears or bearings.
