I am interested. I'm ready.. lets do this..

 

Can you tell me some more details as a photo just does not leave me satisfied. I bought my last one based on a photo and I will not make that mistake.

 

What flywheel will this use? What clutch fork? What starter?

 

What qualifications do the folks that are making this have?

 

How soon do you think you can have me a bellhousing?

 

I'm sorry for the questions, but I have already been burned on one bellhousing and i have no intentions of doing it again.

 

As I mentioned, I can produce my adapter plates, but I rather avoid the trouble if I can.

p.s. Shawn I was figuring that sales would probably be about 2 units a month or there abouts. If you decide to go into production on these I will send you a list of contacts that I have collected of people that sent me emails asking about the plates. I do not know how serious any of them are, but I'd imagine it would turn into a sale or two for you. Most folks that have contacted me are interested in building some sort of a sports car, but I also have a couple of 4x4 folks interested.

  The bellhousing was designed from day one as offering the end user a rwd option.  I'm a machinest and fabricator and have a host of equipment available to me in order to machine, drill and index these housings.  A program was originally written in order to cnc machine these housings, but taking into account the massive chunk of billet required it was deemed as being cost prohibitive.

 

  The bellhousing was designed around an AWD flywheel, which is 225mm.  It uses a Toyota fork and Toyota bearing, clips and ball pivot.  The bellhousing is cast with a stool drilled for the Quest slave.  The bellhousing uses a stock 4g63 starter.  The bellhousing is dowelled like any quality housing.

 

  As stated, if I have no demand, I can't offer a price nor an arrival date.  The pattern alone that needs to be taken off this housing in order for the foundry to cast these housings is well over $1000.00.  Each housing will cost approx $250.00 to cast.  I will then have to face the housings to exact depth and drill the faces on a rotary mill.  I guarantee no more than 2 thou runout from center, which is d***.  I don't sell junk, check my site www.starconquer.com and my feedback on this site, the various DSM sites and Ebay as YardPigTSI

Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds like you are the guy to talk too. I just needed to make sure you are not some kid on the internet that has an idea in his head and is wasting everyones time. I'm sure you have seen that before... I know I have.

 

So the sample in the photo is from billet? Yikes thats a chunk of metal. $1000 for the casting sounds like a good deal compared to prices around here.

 

I'd be more then happy to assist in making this product come to market. Like you said, I think this is a better approach then my adapter plates.

 

About the only thing I would suggest a change to would be either the Toyota or DSM slave cylinder since many of your sales will be to non Starion applications. Both the Toyota and DSM being sold in much larger volume then the Starion.

p.s. I guess I should add that I am also an old Star/Quest fan too. I have owned one Starion and on Conquest. While I do not have one now, I still love them.

  I honestly think the housings will be approx $1000.00 each when all of the machine work is complete.  The housing I had fabricated was from various templates that were modified over the last 2 years (yes I have been following your site and others on the net for quite awhile).  I have over a year of my time and countless dollars into this current housing making it just so.  I now need to collect enough interest in order to make the plunge and have this housing templated and then have 5-10 housings(or more) cast and then go to work milling them to exact depth for input shaft protrousion.  They will then have to be drilled on both faces as well as drilled and tapped for fork pivot.

 

  I saw the molested housings that you recieved.  I was in complete disgust with the quality, as I'm sure you were as well.  This housing was produced mainly as a one-off for my own car which is 4g63 swapped, but expanded into offering the only option currently available in order to swap a basically bulletproof transmission into many different chassis's.  

 

  The Starion/Conquest slaves are readily available, I am able to offer them with the housing or in my complete kit.  The housing was originally fabricated as stated above, for the quest crowd, so designing around a dsm slave would have complicated matters.  I can leave the slave cylinder stool undrilled if people want to try and run different slaves.

I'm not 100% sure I'm going to go the 4G63 route here in the near future (decisions, decisions), but for what its worth, your bell housing is currently on my part list!
