TexasQuest
My front bushings are shot, and I need to replace them. I have new polyurethane parts to replace them with, but I have a couple of questions. Do you have to remove the steering linkage to remove the control arm bolts from the subframe? Do you need special tools that are listed in the FSM to remove/replace the control arm bushings? 88_conquest_service_manual_-_group_02_-_front_suspension.pdf
scott87star
No, the lower arm unbolts from both the pivot point where you’re going to put new bushings and the ball joint. Then the strut bar unbolts from the strut bar bracket where you’re going to put new bushings and the lower control arm. The poly bushings are slip fit so no special tools, just grease well with marine grade to slow washout. The old rubber bush on the lca come out easily with a propane torch.
