I've only been here for a few years but somehow at one point there were 1,997 users online at the peak, according to this stats in the member statistics – hard to believe. My 87 Starion has finally been largely sorted out mechanically, thanks to Chris at Top-End Restoration and Performance in VA – and to Steve Sutherland, who has probably helped most of us out at this point. One of my cam journals was damaged, and somehow the guys at the other "top end" (Top End Performance in California) are still in business and had a beautiful cylinder head and cam for me – they also worked with Chris to make sure it was set up properly. I bought an OVC hard pipe from them years ago, so they still have some unique parts around. Also thanks to MKS Motorsports, their new exhaust manifold is fantastic and I had it ceramic coated. Yesterday I washed the car and took it to the Greats Falls Cars and Coffee in VA, there were a lot of serious machines there (a F40 is a regular, also saw a beautiful 2001 Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0, stunning car), but you might be surprised at how many vintage Japanese sports car enthusiasts there are. The old girl is nearly 40 years old but she attracts a crowd! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the holiday weekend – I'm going to give the engine bay a good clean today with the help of a few cold beers – cheers!

@Alpina_BlueBack in the day this place was hopping! In the last 10 years it has really dropped off. The server issues didn't help anything. I joined SQC back in 98 and it's been a ride.

BTW Beautiful ride! I have the same color combo in my 86.  I have the original mats although I don't keep them in the car much anymore. Trying to keep them decent. Autozone specials in there most of the time lol Or I had them out for an auto-x and just didn't put them back in

Good to see ya'll Holy late response, I know 😁

For once, I'm not doing too much work on a conquest...knock on wood.  Been driving my black 88 a lot since the collision repair and really enjoying it.  So much so that my blue 87 has only been backed out of the garage bay once in the past six weeks or so and pulled right back in after changing some light fixtures in the bay.

I'm in the process of cleaning up my garage in preparation to actually start sheet metal work on my 68 mustang.   But also have to address my broken garage heating system before the temps drop too much.

When I joined a couple years ago, I posted pretty frequently, especially questions. Well, my Fiji Blue project is moving in slow motion, but at least moving forward. I think when you're relying on free help, they tend to move slower than if they are getting paid.

I also have a silver runner but it's got a stalling issue when the clutch is engaged and I'm coming up to a light or stop sign. So, I'm taking it to someone smarter than me this weekend because I can't figure it out.

I've experienced this same issue multiple times.   Can't fully explain it, electrical is not my strong point, but when the clutch is engaged, it enables the clutch switch used for the cruise control (basically like an inhibitor switch on an automatic but only used to disengage the cruise control if the clutch is depressed on a manual).   I can't remember if it closes the circuit or opens it when the switch is engaged.    Anyways, I've noticed that the idle is absolutely affected depending on when the clutch is depressed or not.  How and why...I don't know but it is    I proved it by pulling the switch off the pedal and depressing it by hand.  How I fix this is to rerun the TSC/ISC reset procedure until it resolves the issue.  Basically, depress the switch and run the TSC/ISC and set the idle accordingly.   Then see how it runs after the switch is let go.    Tweaking the idle settings between the two.     For a quick fix if you don't use cruise, unplug the switch and see how it runs (or connect the leads depending on the 'normal operation'...like I said, I can't remember if the circuit is normally open or closed when the clutch pedal isn't engaged).

As much as I love these cars, I hate our engine management systems especially anything pertaining to idle.   I've done the TSC/ISC reset over 20 times on a single day until I got it to be somewhat what I wanted it to be during all operating conditions...and it still goes erratic at times but won't stall.

Thanks for this info. I'll share it with the "smarter guys." I'll report back on whether we get it fixed. I'm leaving it with him while I head to the coast next week. I can put up with any vehicular peculiarity or inconvenience as long as it reliably gets me from A to B. This is something I really need to get fixed for peace of mind and sanity.
