tux
I took the set of wheels I managed to piecemeal together from various members and unfortunately all need some straightening or cracks welded. Got quoted $400 a wheel to refinish them Another $900 in repairs. on top of a spend of $750 to acquire the wheels. For a would be total of $3250. I think i'm going to just cut my losses at the $750 and just buy these https://www.airtekk.com/product-p/at-starquest.htm ugh.
Caliber308
You were just dealing with someone who wanted to rip you off. Years ago I had a bent rim from hitting a pothole in the dark. Took it to a place that repaired things like that in California. They did a excellent job, even repainted the red I had on my rim. Cost.......$75.00. tux
The problem is that years ago part! The same guy did my non-shp's like 15 or 20 years ago for about 75$ I was expecting around that ballpark of pricing Edited September 2, 2022 by tux
tux
Btw not a knock on anyone that sold me the wheels. I knew they were all kind of rough going in.
TexasQuest
I just dropped a set off to be refinished here in DFW. $580 out the door for all four.
tux
Wow. Just refinish or repair as well? I've visited more shops today, everyone is 2000-2500 on their quotes. Also what's the name of the place, shipping to them might be worthwhile for me Edited September 3, 2022 by tux
Caliber308
I always knew that sales tax in New Jersey was high............But, I never thought they could get that high 😜 You should move to Texas 😉 P.S. I still think you were dealing with either, a shop that did not want to do it, so they jacked the price up.....Or they were trying to rip you off. Your response was hoping for a 'ballpark price" of $75.00 . Stuff goes up!!!!!!! So, suck it up and pay the price in 2022, if you want them done. Obviously, neither New Jersey or New York seems like a good option. Edited September 3, 2022 by Caliber308

Preludedude
Had mine done at Innovative Wheel Solutions Easley, SC It’s an hour away from me. I dropped them off and they were done in 3 days. I’d be happy to assist if you wanted to ship them to me.
techboy
Hey Tux ... I had my SHPs redone at Hubcap Masters. I forget the total price but it was around 1000 for all 4. Repairs, refinished, and painted. I had mine done at the Allentown PA location, but I'm pretty sure they have an Easton PA location which is closer to Jersey. I'd direct you to my build thread at this point, but those posts are lost.

The shipping will be less for me to send to the shop in SC. @techboyif i wasn't starting a new job Monday and finishing out my current one this week your option would be the best, but can't make the drive
kev
I used an Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists (AWRS). They have many locations across the country but I went to the Balitmore, MD location which may be an option depending on where you are at in New Jersey. I'm sure prices have increased over the past few years but I had all four wheels refinished for under $700. Obviously it will cost more for specific repairs but the quoted price seems very high. There is a guy on FB who just had his redone at an AWRS centerand they were about the price that I paid. I think his name is James Kane. He is the one that found a red 87 in a scrapyard and has been working non-stop over the past few months to rebuild it. He's been posting like mad, so he shouldn't be hard to find.
