GoldStar
Hey guys, I'm having a hard time trying to find the part numbers for the gas tank gaskets, the ones for the fuel sending unit and pickup tube plate. Going off of the parts locator, I think the one for the pickup tubes is MB129548, but the line art isn't great, and it doesn't seem to acknowledge the gasket for the level sensing unit. Anyone have them?
BlueCuda
I haven't had to get into my tank yet but this is one of those areas I hope MKS jumps in with some parts offerings.
kev
You are correct on the pickup tube gasket. The gasket came with the fuel sending unit and wasn't sold separately.
GoldStar
Just tried ordering the pickup tube gasket, unsurprisingly it's NLA. Looks like I'm either reusing my current ones or begging Mikie to get some reproductions going. Thanks for the confirmation.
kev
They don't typically degrade and clean up pretty easily. Be careful pulling it off of the pickup tube body, there are two rubber tabs that go thru the top plate to hold it in place. I replaced the pickup tube gasket on my restored car but re-used the sending unit gasket. And for all of the drivers that I had, including one that I just currently got up and running, I re-used both.

Anyone have them? Amayama.com shows the Fuel Pickup Tube Gasket available for order from a overseas dealership. I ordered one and a Fuel Pickup Filter for my car earlier this year. Shipping is a killer, but I did get my parts.
GoldStar
Yeah I was thinking about Amayama, but I was expecting to get my tank back long before the seals wold get here. Kinda wished I ordered it off the bat though, the tank repair took alot longer than I thought. I suppose we'll see how much life these gaskets form 1987 really have left. Clean them up and use a dab of black RTV if you're worried. Should be good to go. I made my own for the pickup when I tore it upon disassembly.

I actually have a bunch of Toyota FIPG stashed away from my previous occupation.

Their is always a way to get around parts that are NLA. Bill
techboy
Right before the board went down someone was messaging me privately about making these. They had sent me some drawings and I was going to work on it in CAD and order some Viton as I have in the past for the drain plug gaskets ... but then the board went down and I forgot who was contacting me. If someone has an old torn gasket then can send me I can see about drawing it up and getting them made. I have to crawl up in my attic too ... I have a spare gas tank up there, I might have one on there. Anything I make though won't have the tabs on it Kev was talking about. It would just be a flat gasket. obsolete
I'm dropping my tank this winter, I can probably send you a gasket if nobody else beats me to it. Are you still doing the drain plug gaskets?
techboy
I can. I'm sold out right now. I have to order more rubber and cut them. I also need to find a packing slip to know what thickness material I ordered previously. I'll see what can fi this week and post back with an update. Hey if you can’t find anything, I bought an extra new gasket. I could send that over to you.
