ucw458 Posted November 8, 2015 Report Share Posted November 8, 2015 The 87, 88 and 89 FSM states all starters have a 9 tooth gear and a 1.2 kw motor. There may be some un-published differences between auto and manual but they are minimal. I remember reading somewhere that auto trans starters had an 8 tooth gear but I can't confirm that. TexasQuest Posted November 10, 2015 Author Report Share Posted November 10, 2015 From what I've gathered thru research is the 83-86 cars had an auto-manual option 8 tooth starter, transmission specific.
