MainstreaM Posted September 10, 2015 Report Share Posted September 10, 2015 Made this during my second go round in college. Drew the flange up in solidworks and had it cut on an EDM. Flange to pipe connection is welded inside and out. To make the oval to circular transitions I drew up a buck in solidworks, printed it on a rapid prototype machine, used that to make a casting mold, cast the buck in aluminum, heated the steel pipe red hot in the forge, then pressed it onto the buck to get the transition shape. Pretty lengthy process but got me an A in manufacturing processes class. Welded up some steam pipe but graduated before getting a collector fabbed.
