It only took a few months, but now I think the gearbox bracket is kind of finished. I need to drill some holes for evacuating vapour and to fill it with rust protection.

I spot welded it up perfect on the car before I welded it together and made some improvements for strength. I am obviously not a professional welder, but I think I have a problem with severe brain damage. You can see on the pictures that I had to grind up the slots to get it to fit on the car again... The slots were to provide some adjustment possibilities front/back, but somehow I messed that up, the bolts will have to be where I had to grind up the slots.

Very nice.

Thank you!

Progress is progress... if it fits, make a drawing of it!

Well, to be honest, I could do that, but I will not do that, -because this is not the way to go.

Hopefully no one will do this again, there are many engines out there that have really good performance potential.

The BMW M50 can handle severe abuse and power, even with turbocharging. But in a Starion it is not the best choice.

- The Toyota Supra engine is for sure easier to install. But why make it simple? :D

Now when the engine and gearbox is where it is supposed to be, I instead of building and creating, I keep taking the car down, piece by piece...

One of many problems I have is that the piping from the heater core runs straight in to the plenum of the BMW-engine. To take the heater core out is a bit of work, but it is done now. I should have done this before I started to cut up the car, that would have made things easier...

I have no solution yet, but I think some cutting/bending/soldering/crying might do the work. :)

Just an observation,,,do I see rust directly above transmission tunnel, where the windshield meets the framing? I've seen it before,,and if left go it will Crack the windsheild.

B

No, there is absolutely no rust, what so ever! :o

:( But this is not to bad compared to my first Starion where I had to take the windshield out and completely rebuild the frame around the window and then glue the window back. That car was so rotten you could put your fingers through the rust holes under the window. I will take care of this some way...

The problem with the heating core tubing is solved. I used high technology instruments and some serious equipment. I cut the pipes appr 3cm and used the old sledgehammer on the firewall. :)

Also did some more cutting around the gear leaver, soon I will be able to weld it together. The gear mechanism from the ZF-gearbox will also have to be shortened about 100mm

The battery will have to go in the back, no place in the front, and for weight distribution it is for the best.

One thing I can not stop thinking about, -what the f-k is this? It fell out when I removed the heater core, -where does it go and what does it do?
