pcristquester
When u come by with that green injector...u can pick up my 2 manifolds and 3 turbo hot sides and have at it...... looks like u been busy in the garage.......What happened ...?? Did u ask her about saving that other car we talked about..??? :oJust joking.....just finished up my rear struts.... NEW KYBs............do u know leesfer..??Have u seen his console that he is redesigning ??We need to have a meet....!!!! So/Cal..........im always busy in the garage, working on the house inside and outside, scanning for parts and ideas on this site... Oh yeah working full time, kids with sports and music. Every extra 15 minutes and extra $15 I get outside all that goes to this project one way or another. Only other San Diego SQC guy I've met was master viva to this point. Seems like we are either too busy, not interested or just loners to meet up
pcristquester
Yesterday primed the turbo with oil and hooked up the supply and return lines to it. Have some nice new flex hoses from Brian @ LSP for the coolant lines, but need to easy out a broken bolt at the tstat water neck connection first. Wish I could replace the intake manifold without pulling the head. Got a LSP 52mm TB sitting in the garage ready to go in one of these 2 terds... markhansenconquest
Did u put in the P/s box yet..??u might have to remove head to remove the p/s hoses off the p/s box anyway........Those Fitings are tight..........
pcristquester
No, car is outside in the dirt/mud and on the wheels. Too much remodeling going on to leave it in the garage for any extended period. If I have to pull the head to do the steering box, it will probably be one of the last things I do unless you want to come down and help me knock it out in a day. And while i'm right there, i'll probably do BC's steering coupler replacement.
markhansenconquest
I have home made line wrenches for p/s lines do u want to borrow them ?? if u use a wrench it crushes the pipe and the fitting gets tight...i broke a line wrench doing mine ..then I made my own and clamped vice grips around the wrench lightly so it the wrench couldn't break........whats your e mail I will try to send u some pics...I learned how to send pics on my phone the other day.... tankbob
Whered you have the exh mani coated like that? Im about to pull the turbo to rebuild it and the exh mani to fix leaks inbetween it and the head. Id be all for porting too but I dont know any shops around here
pcristquester
I did all the manifold work myself except the surfacing and coating. A friend at work did the surfacing at his friends shop, and the ceramic was done at a powder coating shop locally, which cost more than I was expecting but doesn't everything...If it cracks or leaks, i'll be heartbroken. pcristquester
No pics this time, but did a few things yesterday. Touched up with factory code L83 Palermo Grey rattle can paint on the passenger side top rail under the ABS can, installed 180 tstat, water neck, radiator hose and both water hoses to the turbo with new beautiful braided lines from Brian at LSP. Gonna fire her back up soon so I can pull it in and out of the garage to do other stuff from the underside as time permits
pcristquester
SossSome ssssssSSome progress yesterday. Got her fired back up yesterday out of the dirt and moved into the garage. Tired of the walk back and forth to/from the garage for tools.http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag335/pcrist/0302_zps905129f5.jpgInstalled some plastic (blue ironically) and lower door panel so I could lower and raise window as needed. No paint removal really yesterday, but hopeful to have it stripped and repainted for the Vegas meet. http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag335/pcrist/0282_zpsbe108372.jpg http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag335/pcrist/0312_zpsc68ce7a6.jpg . pcristquester
BBefore and after painting the silver header panel to Palermo just to take this thing down to 2 colors instead of three while I keep tinkering. Pretty good color match on the L83.http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag335/pcrist/001_zps2385eba9.jpghttp://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag335/pcrist/006_zps832c99b9.jpg
pcristquester
Going black on the vent fins and behind them instead of body color. I like to break up the body with some black, just like the front grille, side markers and wiper cowls-Starion style vs. Conquest monocolor. http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag335/pcrist/0066_zps0d921d19.jpg http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag335/pcrist/0097_zps435e648c.jpg http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag335/pcrist/0077_zps88187959.jpgThe last pic still has the blue behind it, but it's gone now

pcristquester
Did some more paint removal during the rainy weekend. Waiting for a new antenna cable extension to arrive, so I can button up the center console and Aux modded stock radio by nightwalker (Charles).http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag335/pcrist/001%205_zpsj8aglser.jpghttp://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag335/pcrist/006%207_zpsfy6wdxah.jpg

TexasQuest
Nice progress! I love Fiji blue trust me. But that Palermo that car was born with is gorgeous too.
pcristquester
On this section....mostly a 3" flat scraper. Some areas need a smaller, more flexible blade or heavy scotch brite pad or wet sand paper. I've tried aircraft stripper with limited success and just don't care for chemicals in general. I may be spending a lot of extra time doing it this way, but I've realized I'm sort of trying to erase this blue from the car's memory. Different strokes for different folks.... pcristquester
I love Fiji too! The first quest that caught my attention back in 88-89 was a Fiji. I was addicted at that point. This blue is not even close to Fiji and I think even Earl Scheib would agree
