ucw458
Are you tightening the locking bolt after using the adjusting screw? Are you tightening the pivot bolt?
importwarrior
have you checked the alignment of the pulley to crank pulley?are all pulleys tightened down? no wobble?only real way to toss a belt is you might have an 87 pulley with an 88-89 pulley combo or mis aligned pulley's.something is loose. Malykaii
Check that the pulley is strait. The truck design, for example, has an alternator bracket that needs a washer between it and the engine for it to sit strait. I didn't realize that the washer exists and once reassembled only to see the alternator crooked.

Ernie88TSi
Along with alignment, check your crank pulley as well. The center pulley for the alt belt sits on a rubber dampener and that can fail, especially if the alt belt is overtightened for long periods. It's been forever since I've looked at it, but I think the earlier models had a solid pulley, but I could be way off on that.
