Leak in drivers side footwell

It's been raining for the past coupe of days and I noticed water in the foot well. I dried it up but it keeps coming back so it's obviously leaking from somewhere. I saw threads about this happening in the passenger side foot well and people were saying that it was the AC drain being clogged but no one said anything about the drivers side. I haven't been able to find any obvious leaks on the bottom of the car so I was wondering if you guys could help me out. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem and found the issue when i replace my hood cable.I couldn't seem to

find it i took of the window cowl thinking debri was clogging the water drainage.I then took of the

drivers side fender to feed the cable through. I then checked that little oval shape opening on the

side of the frame rail just below where the wiper cowl would be and before the edge of the door

when closed. Mine had developed a rust hole in the there and the water was getting inside.

you really can't see it from under the dash because of the wires and it being in the upper

left corner. But i can see it with the fender off i can put my finger in there. I took a screwdriver

and also checked that out i put it in there so i can also find it under the dash with my flashlight as well.

Hope my issue helps your find your problem.

I've seen this happen on even brand new cars. I'm assuming you all have a sun roof? If not then this is not the case but, the sunroof has rain gutters that run down the A-pillars and routes the water, to a drain, just like the HVAC drain. On new Ford explorers there is a TSB on water collecting on the passenger, and drivers side floor. The TSB tells you to take out the fender well and locate the drain output. Make sure that it's not clogged, and also check that the tube that the water runs through is properly seeled to the actuall steel run (water can back up, and travle to the inside of the car if it has nowhere to go). So, if this seems to occure only when it rains, then I would check into the sunroof drain. I'm sure that all vehicles with a sun roof will have this same type of setup, otherwise excess water would have no where to go, and its inevitable that the seals, on a constantly moving piece will not always seel up. There for they have to have a back up plan. Edited by MTQuest
