I will weigh the housing and see where I can trim it down, I like to get them under 15 lbs, I had the pattern below that but it is amazing how much primer weighs, I put two coats of primer on and the housing gained 3 lbs, but after its drilled it will loose a pound

GGgggggGGood to hear that it's coming along Bill, as I'll be lookin' to go to a 6-speed myself. BTW, how are you @ intake fabbing? Got an M.P.I. project I need a machinist's help with.

Its like this, I can do anything I want, I just dont have enough hours in my days to get it all done, if you have an intake you would like to build, design it, build the pattern and I will get it done for you , but I cant keep up with so many idea's so fast

Like what I'm seeing. I also think one of these is not very far out in my future as the stock gearing SUCKS. Way to low 1st is useless, and this is with a really ruff tune even. Can't immagin how useless 1st is going to be in the 3X stock power range.

So what T-56 is this being designed for / what T-56 should I be looking for? Any one better then another to find? Should I just find a good housing and have it built, or are they stout enough in good stock form?

the housing is built to support the second gen T 56 with a push style throw out bearing but my information is that the input shaft cane be interchanged with the early first gen T 56 pull style throw out bearing

That is what I was wondering also but I am not too sure about the first gen vs second gen. I have a 95 T56 from a Camaro which is an LT1 (pull type??) because the length of that specific unit puts the shifter in the same location as stock (depending on the engine placement). I was also thinking about swaping the input shaft to an LS1 (push type??) as I was finding that LS1 clutches are plentiful and twin disc clutches are even available.

So my big question is, can a LS1 clutch be made to fit/work on a Starion 240mm flywheel?????

Plan on doing this to mine. After Kawika had the clutch let go on the dyno makes ya a lil nervous! :(

He said the reason for the failure was due to poor pressure plate bolts. Apparently they didn't have shoulders to countersink into the flywheel like they should, so it's like running a PP without your dowel pins, but at 550hp. No doubt that'll fail. Threads are not strong enough to "shoulder" the force and will give even at Grade 8. Kawika had some custom PP bolts made up to use the LT1 clutch on the custom Fidanza, but those are all but sold & unavailable unless one is found unused somewhere or a new run is made costing several thousand. Bill's got it going on. Have faith!

I hope all's well on your end Bill. Any update on this?

I'm with Austin & also have the LT1 1997 pull-style T56 since it fits perfectly in th SQ. I would still prefer your bell > adapter plate if that's still an option that'll work per your addressing this on post #13. When might this be available & how much $$?
