My Story

So I've been lurking around here for sometime. I used to me a total mazda guy. I've had more RX-7s than I can remember but I always wanted quest. Then I found one. California car, not a stich of rust, 80,000 miles. It was running off one injector (barely) and it was coughing and wheezing but I was undertered and the price was too good to pass up.

It had a run in with a giant hay stack before I bought it but there was no frame damage and I knew this car needed me. This is what I got for around a grand.

It came with hardpipes and an upgraded intercooler and a few other goodies.

Well that turbo quickly put the stock jet head to rest so I tore her down so I could redo it my way http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk65/druggie54/IMG_20110321_193401.jpg

So I cleaned it up knowing that I bought it as a parts car and it could not stay

I took the body parts and the mechanicals I needed and sent her off with someone who said he was gonna use it for drag racing.

So with the white quest gone and bouncing from job to job in this economy I've mangaed to rebuild a stock block with a non jet head.

I'm also replacing a cracked windsheild and getting the front end back in shape and ready for paint.

Watch me destroy my newly restored mental health as I stuff this 2.8 liter straight six into my quest. Why? Because f*** me, that's why. And of course, it's going to have a manual transmission and of course I had to ditch the tractor style steering box in favor or a rack that will have to sit in front of the crossmember. Why? Because I love pain.

I'm not sure if anyone uses this site anymore but I despise most social media so here is where I will be.

So, follow along and make sure to let me know what a mess I'm making.

I like this engine swap. What's your plan for the front steer rack? Different spindles?

I am considering a few different options, but they all depend on getting the drive train mounted first. So far, I have switched the steering arms, so they are facing forward to give me a better look. I want to keep this cheap as right now I have lots of time to mess around with random concepts. I'm always open to ideas.
