CR125 options advance auto or autozone

Recommended Posts

i have been trouble shooting dropping signal for 2 months, swapped ecus 3x...(sorry Scott) and it all boils down to get your CR125 from autozone!!!! do not have advance auto cross reference it............it wont work! unless all you want to do is idle....... it drops of about 1k rpm..... just thought i would share... i spent 300 chasing down a 35 dollar problem..... <_< its just my luck..... Same here Tyler. I hate advance auto. They on a consistant basis sell me the incorrect part, I just get frustrated everytime I walk in the store.

SUPPOSED to be the same,,,,,, but it is not! i cannot verify any other stores like Napa,O'Reilly ect,,,, but Advance auto is wrong.

OEM part # MD607478

if you run this, the way i understand. you dont need to run a msd8910. the 8910 boosts the signal for megasquirt to read it easily.

What ignition setup are you running? Generic wheel, or distrib?

I am curious, I am about to switch to a generic wheel setup and get rid of the edis module. I have been having issues since I switched to the to me ms v3 board.

Yeah, I checked two of his modules, both would work up to around 1000 rpm and then drop the signal to about 3000 rpm where they picked back up and were good to higher than these motors will go. Really odd but not anything you want to mess with. Stay away, only buy the Autozone online module.

Looking down at the module in the distributor with the module at the 12 O'clock position the left terminal is the VR+ and the right the VR- on the OEM VR pickup.  For the CR125 you run +12V to the left terminal and the right terminal is the pickup, for it to work correctly you need to add a 1K resistor between the terminals, that acts as a 12V pull up to give a 12V square wave signal to the ECU.

Would this work for the OG FIP MS1 system? I have a feeling the 4 pin module I have is starting to go bad and I bought a DR100 from AutoZone but that one didn’t even give me any tach signal at all, had me guessing for another hour but when I put my old one back in(which looks to be exactly the same model) it worked. Car still didn’t turn on but yeah lol anyways is this the better version? All I did when I installed it originally 8 years ago(and ran it for years) was splice into 2 of the 3 wires that go to the distributor, should I install it some different way?
