^^^ LOVE that CBX ^^^

thanks, I can't wait to get it out this spring!

Such a small world, those bikes are uber rare. The first bike I ever rode on pavement was a '79 CBX. I like the looks of the early bikes much better. I will agree that the sound is unique to itself, you'll never hear anything like it. We had two here at the house up until last winter, a red '79 my father purchased new in 1980, and a black '79 he picked up when I was in elementary school.

Yours must really scoot with that big bore kit. :o

Here's our black bike, it was piped with a Kerker dual 3-1 setup, jetted and dyno tuned:

Awesome! I'm a real nut for the late 70's early 80's muscle bikes, nothing like them and the styling is amazing! The 1147 kit is amazing and the header has some of the baffling removed so under WOT there is nothing like it. It is a blast to drive and with the extended swingarm the power is very managable, there is a guy here in cincinnati who builds these professionally and this was once his personal bike. I figured someone on here would appreciate the cbx, after all we all share great taste in rare 80's cars.

That black 79 looks nice, I'd love to see the red one. Red 79's are the most valuable and sought after cbx's and to see one with one owner is awesome, so tell your dad to hang on to that one. That must have been an awesome first ride!

Like Jeph-tsi i'm also a big fan of 70's and 80's Jap muscle bikes , the 6 cylinder CBX and the Kawasaki Z1300 we're both MONSTERS back in the day and i remember them when new in the showroom , i have a 83 Honda CB1100F tucked away with only now a hair over 15,000 original miles , i plan on riding this old school animal again next year , its been a while ! like 3 years ! , on the daily driver front the SQ fleet with the exception of the daily driven 1uz v8 Conquest are all in hibernation now that i bought myself a 1 owner from new 92 Lexus 400LS 4 door sedan ,a beautiful car in every way . :)

I've had a few chances of picking up an early 90's LS400, but just like everything else...nothing lasts forever. They usually have high mileage, which....the engine doesn't worry me so much. It's the chassis parts that bother me. I work at a Lexus dealership, and the prices are outrageous for Lexus OE replacement parts. Plus, just about every older LS400 I've sat in....the driver seat has turned into a stiff park bench. I'm not so sure if I'd like that. I'll someday have an early 00's GS430 of my own.

I looked at many, many 400's till i found the right one , yes the seats on all i saw were either torn up or just old and ugly and most had "moon mission" miles but ALL ran well , however the one i bought has the very rare cloth interior in perfect shape and the miles are low for its year , the previous owner had always pampered/garaged his V8 Jap boat and the car came with full Lexus service history from day 1 till it came into my hands , like SQ's really nice ones exist you just got to wait for the right one to come along. :)

Scotty, the cloth interior cars were very rare! About as rare as finding an ES300 without a sunroof, or even a 5 speed manual! Yes, they did exist, I've seen them with my own eyes. There was an LS400 about 15 miles away from me, with the cloth interior. Unfortunately, it was poorly maintained and wasn't worth making an offer to the guy. Your right. Just gotta keep looking until the right one comes along. I found a '93 LS400 with 120k miles for $1100 on local Craigslist this morning. Needs a windshield and a rear rotor. Not a bad deal...I'm debating if I should go take a peak.

awesome! pics of the 1100f? the guy who built my cbx also builds those, I have a 1100f front fairing on the cbx! I would love to check out a kz1300 but I've never seen one, only voyagers which use the same engine. When I was looking for the cbx I was also shopping for cb1100f's, kz1000's, kz1300's and gs1100e's. I had actually picked up a magna v65 and was doing some custom work to it when I found the cbx, ended up trading it towards the cbx.

I don't have any digital pics of the red bike, I'll see if I can find some hard copies to scan.

My father and his brother both had matching red 79's in the early-mid 1980's.

Sadly, we sold both the red and black bikes to a collector/restorer from Maine. I'd like to have one of my own in the future, we'll see how that plays out.

I didn't realize so many people were into the 70's Japanese bikes!

This one isn't a muscle bike (it's a 350) but it's been fun!

A nice list of 2 wheel Jap classics right thar ! add Kawasaki's Kz 900 and thier lethel frame twisting, over powered gas guzzling KH 750 two stroke triple , the 500 was just as dangerous ! :)

You get used to them. I haven't had to much trouble. The worse one comes from the spoiler.

The Hemi is a bit different than the 3.5L. I had a 3.5 in my old 97 intrepid and it would scoot but nothing like that Hemi. 20mpg isn't that bad either, its the 8 qts of oil that it takes to do an oil change that is the kicker.

i have done my plugs twice now. Its no big deal. Biggest trouble on the Charger is there is not enough room to put a single 6" extension on the end of your ratchet, you have to use two 4" extensions and take them apart every time.
