8ty8starion
I searched around but no luck finding what I was looking for.My question is what kind of adjustements can be made on the distributor as far a timing is concerned to run e85? I know on dsm's we can advance timing a bit to gain some decent power! I dont know how many people on here are running e85 on a tbi car by the way I'm running 2 secondaries and a gm maf-t and my afr's on pump are all very good with minimal adjustmenys on the translator! Thanks in advance
Chad
I don't think anyone has taken the time to dial it in on TBI, so there is no real info to share. Maybe you can be the first 8) The distributor curve is pretty well timed for the motor, and you can probalby get away with about another 4-5*, but make sure th vac advanc is working propperly, many are not. Just use a miteyvac on it while idlig and check the amount of change. I use distributorless ignition on my MPI setup and found it likes 16* at idle and cruise, but not much more than 35 at 4000 RPM, and you need to pull out about 15-17 of that at high boost for a final timing of about 20*. Just take it in small steps, I was able to feel spark knock when I went to far (at about 25* final timing on full boost), and I backed it off about 4*. This was using a big turbo and 91 pump gas and octain boosters in the tank.
8ty8starion
thanks alot man yeah I'm stil on the stock turbo running 22psi with a wideband and gm maft and its running great I just picked up an hx35 from a friend and plan to run it aswell like to see what i can get out of it and I guess I will be one of the first on e85 with tbi seems kind odd but ok I'l run with it, see where it takes me! Whats the most hp anyones made on the stock tbi and stock turbo doesnt matter what inj. or tunning devices but I'd like to see what I can do with the stock stuff before switching over! Technology
I made 209 on 87 octane and a dynojet before it knocked and retarded the timing, lol. 203 on a DD. If you want to go for the stock turbo/tbi hp record, you should take out the engine and rebuild it with high compression pistons, get a big well degreed cam, e85 and tons of boost. Technology
Good luck, just dial in those AFR's and crank it up, it'll love the e85.
Dan_Brew
Here is the list http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=83508 keep us informed how the e85 works for you. I know of only one guy that is running e85 on TBI and he has not got all the bugs worked out on it yet. But I will say 30 lbs of boost felt great until it went pop.
