The Roadrunner

Well snapped a few pics finally. I'm still going thru the car getting it a bit more reliable for day to day use.

1972 Roadrunner

numbers matching 400

70*** original miles

original Hemi Orange car

I'm considering putting a set of SHP wheels on it, I'm still up in the air about it. It would be nice to have a lil more rubber to the road.

This winter it will be getting a new firmfeel steering box, longers pitman arm, bigger sway bars and torsion bars and a better exhaust.

This week I'm swapping out the 3:91's with 3:23's Although fun, the 3:91's just arnt for me for what I want out of this car.

Yah, I realy like the restomods so thats what I'm pointing towards. After going thru diameter charts I think 255/50 on the rear 9's and 245/50 on the front 8's will fill the well nicely. The rears wont be as tall as I would like but the 50 series tire will definitly handle better than the 70 series thats on it now. I'll have to run some small wheels spacers to cleer the hubs but there is plenty of wheel well to spare. The tires on it are bran spankin new so I cant bring myself to go that route just yet, gimme a couple weeks to burn these off first  lol

My list also includes a hydroboost for the brakes and rear disks as well.

I am going to the nationals but I'm not taking it. I'm still chasing some issues with it shutting down sporaticly, its somewhere in the ignition because its like a light switch when it does, cycle the key a few times and it fires right up again. It has a summit ignition in it and the wires are just everywhere so I need to just go over it all. Plus the 3:91's are not too intersate friendly. lol

When I passed on your car I decided to find what I always wanted, now I just need to build it to my liking.

A, you may wannna just pull those wheels & tires & use them for "shows," as they are correct & very "drag pack" looking. :) I also think the SHP wheels look very nice on the car. It's a very clean car! I'm more 68'-70' Roadrunner boxy look, due to H/S era. Although, I can't imagine you putting that many street miles on such a low milage clean car. Cruise'n w/ the SHP's would definitely be nicer, a very small retro-mod. A "Really Very Sweet" look'n Roadrunner, I keep go'n back to the pics... & like'n it more & more! Hang onto that 3.91! (if it was me... I wouldn't even change it ;) ) I hadn't realized that the speedo was still a 150mph, cool. Take care!

ya, those gears are murder. My chevelle has 4:11's, and when it was my only car, I dreaded any kind of highway travel. I'm going Friday and Saturday, and hope to find some stuff for my Demon. I just have to stay away from the car corral or I may end up with another project.

The 3:91's sound fun in theory untill you drive more than 3 miles lol It has flowmasters too so it is a bit mind numbing. I'm keeping the wheels and dog dishes, I love that look too but want something better handling. I'll keep the 3:91s up on the shelf, I'm a parts horder so that not a problem. Its nice but total honestly, not that nice. It a Daily driver, its had work done in the quarters and the repaint isnt the best and there are easily 100+ small dings or blemished around the entire car. The go-wing and mirrors are off an A-body so they dont quit fit right ect ect. Rear main and tranny leak. But frame and floor pans are solid and it runs strong, working on cars is half the enjoyment for me so I dont mind it one bit. To be honest it is exactly what I want because I'm not so deep into it that I'm affraid to drive it anywhere.
