gerwulf
So driving my 87 starion home i noticed its sluggish, granted its been sitting for 10years suspectedly but this is bad. It can get up and go from a stop pretty good and roast tires well, but by top 2nd or 3rd it levels out, i cant feel any umph when hitting the gay, and on a straight road it very slowly climbs from 40 to about 70 and thats it. The previous own said he has been able to get it to 130 at its prime. Would changing the oils, doing a rebuild on the TB, running some seafoam/ injector cleaner through the gas, replacing airfilter, oilfiler, and running a tank or to of premium to take out some gunk really boost its performance? I noticed that through that day it wouldnt touch 70mph, but bringing it back from running it around a parking lot for all its got for about a half hour it would climb to 70mph real slow but would get there. Hints, tips, tricks? also i dont feel the boost kick in, the boost meater show its working but i dont feel it working
jayro
definetly do a fuel system cleanup. my car ran real sluggish once and that was because the intank filter was broken clogging up the pump, filter and injectors with rust. i had my new delphis in there that i cleaned up with partscleaner {they have a little mesh screen}, i cleaned the top of the tb ran the walbro out of a clean gallon of gas, pressure washed the gas tank, blew out the fuel lines, changed the intank and up front fuel filters. in the end it was reborn. my car sat for 12 years behind a shed Edited August 7, 2011 by jayro
MikeMeyerhoff
Does it have the stock exhuast? If so, there is a good chance the catalytic convertors are plugged up.
