PDodson
I have a magna head and a US spec intakehttp://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e394/XLR8N/0308101927a.jpg any suggestions
Maxzillian
I would think you should be ok. The US intake has ample material in that area. It should seal fine. I guess I don't see a problem.
bigmandsm
I got the opposite Problem magna intake with us head

Maxzillian
Yeah, I understand what you have, but looking at your first picture it looks like the US manifold covers that hole, or are there portions that just barely manage to catch the edge of the port? bigmandsm
I think i seen in a post by chad where you can make a adapter plate to fit in middle but then you need both gasketsbut he also metioned something about filling it then make it to u.s port Edited March 9, 2010 by bigmandsm
Chad
Looks like it should be fine, got any stock intake gaskets? put one up against the magna head and you'll see the US spec port sits [ inside ] the magna port on your head. As long as you run the propper magna gasket (as shown in your first pic), it shoudl work perfectly. It should only gush water if you use a US spec gasket on a magna intake or magna head. PDodson
ok so I dont need to dremel out the intake to match the head, I can just use the magna gasket on the us spec intake on the magna head
Chad
ok so I dont need to dremel out the intake to match the head, I can just use the magna gasket on the us spec intake on the magna head Yah, when I mod those, I just make the hole smaller, I don't make it in a different location. Magna head, magna gasket and US Spec magna manifold shoudl go together perfectly. Flow won't be any less eiter, it still has to funnel though the small pipe nipple. I mod all magnas this way, even if they are going to be used on a magna head. This way the parts can be split up and the intake is still good on any US spec head as well. Elkidmino
I dunno, I'd run a US spec gasket to match the intake. I think there would be less penetration of water across the surface area of the gasket around the hole. It's really something you need to play with and see what works. Technology
I'd get some JB Weld and fill that big hole in the head except where if flows through to the intake. Should be easy enough, plus that epoxy is strong and in that situation, should hold up just fine.

Technology
Hey man, if you're gonna pit dremeling against JB welding you aren't going to have a winner; they both suck but sometimes it's a better option than paying someone to weld it up and grind it flat. Just trying to give you ideas if you're stuck, but this thread looks like it's not a question of how to fix it but rather a statement showing how you used the wrong gasket since you already seem to know the solution. Am I right?
PDodson
car is back together, i DID NOT dremel the intake out, I applied some rtv and used the magna gasket againest the magna head so hopefully it works, gotta wait 24 hours for the rtv to cure
bigmandsm
So when you use a magna intake you have to weld the hole smaller to match the U.S head? Huh JB weld is starting to sound good right now how much does chad get to modd these intakes?
Starwolf
^ I think they have already explained that it just depends on what gasket you use. Use the magna gasket instead of the us gasket and i think you should be fine?

PDodson
well my rtv worked, I used the Magna Gasket againest the magna head with the US Spec intake manifold on it and alos put some RTV just to be sure ND i am not leaking anymore coolant or oil on the intake side coolant on the rear port and oil by the block off plateI used Blue rtv for coolant and black rtv for oil
bigmandsm
Yeah I was just worried i have a jet valve head minus jet valves but the coolant passage crosses the air passage for jet valve thinking it might leak? jb weld might be my freind for the air passage
