omg, please tell me those mustang parts are not going on that car.

its gonna be a mustarion

oh, i had also planned on a widebody mod but didnt' follow it due to lack of affordable huge wheels.

there is a much easier way of making the fenders wider. all you have to do is make a cut right over the center shaped like a T

then you pull it open a bit and fill out the vertial space with a 1" plate and the top with a "1/8 of moon" shapped metal.

IDKwhy do you know what camber and caster your gonna run?

is that a mustang front suspension?

do you know any of your roll centers or instant centers and where

they are?

now that you have definately changed all that

What degree is at your pinion angle as of now?

also drive shaft and transmission!

where is your rear instant center or lift point?

what kinda rear suspension is that, kinda looks to be some links in there

but where do they go?

i have an old quest i was gonna junk but decided to v8 it instead

and im in the process of doing this same stuff.

9''

4 link

full frame

10 point cage

sbc tpi

6 speed

but man to get that car down the track straight you need

to know what that suspension is doing

I'm just asking questions not bashing the thread

I will take your list and respond to all of them at the same time- some of your questions can not be answered until we have the drivetrain placed in the car and the suspension is set up. We will be doing a chassis schematic prior to making any passes, so adjustments are wqrking from a baseline setting. If you e-mail or PM me a fax # for you, I would be happy to provide you the engineering drawing of the chassis with the chassis base set up schematic.

I can appreciate your interest in the chassis, the front end is based on a Mustang II and the rear chassis is a fully adjustable Ladder Bar Set up- What is not show yet, is the Panhard Bar (need the drivetrain weight to establish "center".

We are experimenting with engine placement to try to get the most traction, as I am sure you know an inch or two back will have a significant impact on the chassis "manners".

You can E-Mail me direct at IDKwhy@aol.com, or use the Club PM- to send me your fax info...

Art,

you are 100% correct- that is the easy way but, It would cause the Wheel Opening to be Elongated.

We are keeping the original wheel opening this way and accenting the stock body lines- thus looking "factory" and not "stretched".

I have found that many parts from the Mustang- Particularly, 1986-1992 - body lines are close enough to rob some pieces from (as Mustang aftermarket parts are plentiful).

The bumper cover you see there, will be cut into sections, as we are only going to be using the "lower Valence" portion. The Valence I made is set to thje stock width, and the Mustang piece, fits nicely to the contour of the "widebody" set up we are going to end up with.

I appreciate your input, and hope that if you have any ideas- Please let me know- I know you have a great deal of experience with fabricating parts from scratch, and I value your input. Obviously, the looks are a matter of personal tastes, so I understand- this may not be your cup of java- but if you have any insight or concepts, you could suggest- that would be great- I'm still praying you will finish your NON-POP UP HEADLIGHT KIT- so I can Purchase one for this project. I am dreading having to spend the time to fabricate something that has already been done....I PM'd you about my source for the Coated Lexan- to make the cover- It will be ready the end of next week- Please let me know if this would help you complete that kit -

Look forward to hearing from you again...

I'm sure the car will look great when it's finished.

It a;ready look good.

If you use the Mustang tail lights and spoiler, you will be getting guys going.."Hey look at that Musta........what the hell is that?

When cruising in my quest I always got asked "what year mustang is that? I ain't ever seen one before."

It was completly stock bodied, but some redneck always managed to ask.

Most people have a hard enough time identifying a conquest or a starion in stock form- This will definately confuse them.

I hope you have more faith in me than to let it turn out like that yellow mustang..

I promise it will clearly be a Starquest! Let me get a little farther along and then make your evaluations...

I am just trying some different things- It is hard to see the concepts final shape at this point- In my mind it is very clear- Stay Tuned.....

Please feel free to offer any ideas you may have or something you have seen before that you liked- E-MAil me -I am working off ideas in my head - It would be great to get some input.....

I have said it many times- The "look" is a matter of perspective- Everybodys idea of a good look is different- so try not to be to hard on the "look" and thing more about the "concept" and "unique" modifications.

Thanks again-

That is insane dude  .

What do you have planned for the rear? I have a V-8 Quest that I want dual exhaust on. I've been looking for something to cover the rear below the bumper to hide the fuel tank but something with dual exhaust cut outs for the pipes.

Your project is looking killer man, I can't wait to see the finished product.

The Front Fenders are going to be flared out like the rear quarters only 2.0 inches instead of 3.5 inches.

I considered leaving the back open as you described but, I am fabricating complete inner fender well liners as well as an engine compartment liner, so I need to enclose everything. Also, the front wheels are 17x11" so with the 315/35R17 tires are like steam rollers and will throw everything the grab- tough on a paint job!!!

Thanks for the input & stay tuned for more progress pics- sometime the end of next week or the middle of the following week...

Don't want to sound like an a** but are you really going to run 315's in the front? It is going to take you forever and a day to get those tires up to temperature and make the steering wheel heavy.

Do you have any data showing that the tire sizes available under stock fenders arn't big enough?

I guess my point in all of this random ranting is that IMO you might want to spend some time doing research on how to select the proper tire sizes. I too would like to see some info on your suspension geometry if and when you have it available.

Starboy,

This project is not set up for a Racing Application.

It is primarily being built as an extreme example of the Pro Touring Platform. It will have the ability to support it's looks with performance, but we are not concerned about "heating the tires up".

This car will spend a lot of time as an advertising tool for the vendors who are contributing to the project.

They are "helping" to carve the shape of this project.

I do appreciate your enthusiasm, but why would you feel you are qualified to "School" me? I think my abilities and skills speak for themselves.

Really, it would have been much more appropriate, had you asked me "what is the intended use for this project" BEFORE starting to point out my lack of knowledge.

I really was hoping this was not going to start on this post but, I guess some people just can't help themselves.

I hope this isn't going to start a "BASH FEST" because I was very excited to share these projects with the Starquest Community, but I just can not understand the point to replies like Starboys- what was hoped to be gained? Was it to show how "skilled" he was by pointing out my "mistakes" and lack of "experience"???

Whatever, Starboy - I don't mean you any harm- I just would like you to think before you post something- Make a "helpful or useful" contribution.

Thanks anyway,

Outcast,

We are trying to maintain "most" of the original shape, but exagerate the shape.

I think that would like really cool, but for this application- we would like people who know the car to recognize it, under the surface...

Thanks again-

This motor I have had for 13 years and never put it to proper use.

it is a 427 CID Marine Block custom built for a custom 177 Blower.

Estimated RWHP 1000 plus???

The motor was originally built to go into a 1969 Camaro - built for the World of Wheels.

The car was sold before the engine was complete.

Thanks for the interest...

Sorry if I bashed you, I guess I just need to accept that not everyone that has these cars wants to go all out race with it. I commend you on your efforts and originality, it just seems like IMO the stock suspension was fine under it. Just out of curiosity what made you choose the mustang II front end? I don't know much about them but it seems like if you order a clip its an easy way to get a rack and pinion steering on the car.

Starboy,

I appreciate your response- that is a very honorable response, and I appreciate your understanding.

The reasoning behind using the Mustang II Suspension- they make everything for it, It is a simple set up to use in a variety of driving conditions, and is easy to modify without sacrificing the overall geometry.

I made the tubular control arms very narrow to accomodate those very wide wheel & tire combination- and still be able to turn it. Yes it will still steer like the Titanic but, with the Power rack and the Gear reduction unit- it will not be hard to steer, The net effect will be a reduced steering radius.

Parking could be reduced to a 3 point turn... HAHA!!

Once again, thanks for your response...

IDKWhy,

I believe the rear tail lights would look killer if you would take the factory lights and clear them out, tint them a little dark, and build a circuit board with super bright led's to fill the entire space in the inner plastic frame.

mainstream,

I would agree with you completely, but i don't have the time for another project, as it is - in order to pull this off- I will have to make things like the Non-Pop Up headlight buckets. Everytime, I start another ONE-OFF Concept Part- I get deeper. I was trying to take advantage of a "shortcut" without compremising the finished product quality. Those Tail lights are manufactured by a Mass Producer and have the "finished" product quality - I could only produce with HUNDREDS of man hours.

But, You are 100% correct- If I could find someone who can produce the finished product and I'm game....

I may be able to revisit the Tail lamps at another time.

We will see...

Thanks for your interest& stay in touch...
