Think its a good idea?

How would we get out lights to just barely pop open like that?

i want a set for me

Dunno if I'd want to mess with the headlights, but it's been done. I've only seen one completed design and didn't like it.. But there is another with carbon fiber replacement buckets with recessed projectors (removing the popups entirely) that I have seen and liked.

As far as projectors.. I've been messing with a spare fog light I have. I dunno if I'll ever actually complete it, but it's a spare light anyway so I don't care.

the only problem with ours, is the fact that it bends at the end, and isn't a flat headlight cover like most, so, they don't really look as good as, for instance, that supra.

also...no offense, but, I kinda like the stock light better on that car :P

v8starion is working on half height pop-ups, has almost one side done at least

I did run a non-projector stationary, but only for a couple months, I didn't like how the cover came out. but I've got a setup in the works using 4 TSX projectors 2 for low beam, and 2 for high beam (cutoff shields removed), and non-flip up

Test fitting in a friends car...

Making the headlight doors only open half way is the easy part- it's figuring out a smaller light to put in, and the fab work to get it mounted in there and aimed right that will be tricky. Overall, it wouldn't be too hard I don't think.

I found it to be the other way around. Figuring out How much to take out of the throw on both the arms to get the opening size that I needed was the hardest part. Fabing the pieces to mount the headlights and tacking them into the bucket went smooth. Plus the headlights have fine adjustments themselves. The time I wasated was trying to make a piece that bolted in(A pile of scraps). I went with the Hella 90mm projectors based on cost. I wanted DOT light so I didnt give "The Man" one more thing to bust my chops about. The 90s were $50ea($200 total) The 60mms were $400 and change each. So they are a little bigger, but it didnt hurt my wallet as much. They are half the size as the stock housings. I had originally looked at small fogs like "katz" and some 1.5 tall Hella fogs But,after all the work I wanted somthing that would do the job.

Heatgun or the use oven to get the old sealant plyable again, then remove the lenses.

Don't mind the water spots on the lenses.

not to threadjack...but, what do you reattach the lenses with?

I like to use clear RTV, but keep in mind using this and you will never get the lenses apart again without breaking them. I'm sure someone else will chime in with something that will allow them to be removed in the future without too much headache.

I only like to use clear RTV because chances are VERY high that I will never take apart the light I reconditioned again.

Rubber butyl is what most OEM's go with. Nissan has it available for roughly $20, part number B6553-89915.

http://www.mynismo.com/products/?id=5577

Something readily available at most auto parts stores is 3M's window weld, which is replacement windshield sealant and is basically the same as the OEM sealants. It comes in a big roll for about $15. I've resealed about 5 pairs of headlights and still have a good bit left over.

Be careful of some silicone types, as they outgas as they cure and can haze clear lenses.

with the windshield weld, do you place it between the lense and light housing, compress, and let dry/heat or what?

and is that nissan stuff you linked something that cures, and hardens? it looks almost like just a a tube of rubber but i can't tell. Is it like a tube or like a gel type deal? Do you just cure it with heat?

Yes it could only issue is ours needs to be a bit higher as the headlight lid is angled where the supras are flat

True!... I would probably just focus on making the projector conversion and then try to mess around with making it lazy eyed.. IMO just having projector headlights would be a nice upgrade.
