Marker1989
What sort of options do we have as far as brakes go? Does anybody have a manual brake setup?
TexasQuest
Not that I've seen. Mainly just upgraded rotors, pads and steel braided brake lines. These cars brakes aren't too shabby from the factory. Wilwood does make a big brake kit for the front. Edited April 23, 2012 by TexasQuest
D_Venable
Wilwood does make a big brake kit for the front. FYI the only thing Wilwood about the kit are the calipers, it's pieced together and built by an independent shop
Marker1989
I am mostly concerned with a manual brake conversion. I have found a few interesting caliper and rotor swap to look into but I may need manual brakes with the motor swap I have in mind.
D_Venable
if it's room you need around the master cylinder, look into a Mustang Cobra (SN95 chassis) hydroboost setup. A guy on here (shoquest I believe) was swapping in a 1st gen Taurus SHO motor and went this route
Marker1989
Hmm, I will look into that. I planned on having a manual rack though but we'll see.
Convette
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/_IGP4697-1.jpg Mustang cobras aren't hydroboost. I have a cobra master and (vaccume) booster on my car due to fitment issues and it works great. The booster is smaller but thicker thana stock quests. Marker1989
The modular Mustangs were hydroboost to give more clearance for those motors. I have been kicking around the idea of a new DOHC 5.0 swap with twins hanging off the front. I would need clearance in the brake booster area and I think the best way to do it is going to be figuring up some kind of manual brake deal. I had planned on putting a 240sx rack in the car for steering clearance and I wanted to convert it to manual steering, which would make it a challenge to rig up a hydroboost setup.
