cali
I bought a 95 gsx last year and am using the 4g63 for the starion but i also grabbed the awd rear end (including awd gas tank) to install into my 99 galant. finally got around to it 2 weeks ago....just have to grab an evo 8 engine/tranny and install the driveshaft; basically a sleeper evo. it's amazing to be how much all the mitsu platforms share in common...everything literally bolted up! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jdmgalant4g63T/AWD%20Galant/awdgalant1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jdmgalant4g63T/AWD%20Galant/awdgalant2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jdmgalant4g63T/AWD%20Galant/awdgalant4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jdmgalant4g63T/AWD%20Galant/awdgalant5.jpg
Scotty Dont
DAMN, is this a pretty popular swap? Never would have thought to do something like that.
Technology
Awesome! They had an awd one in Japan, did they not?
JustPaus_88TSi
Nice. I was going to help a friend do the same to his 2001 Galant, but he wasn't dedicated to it.

cali
DAMN, is this a pretty popular swap? Never would have thought to do something like that. Actually, not really, i dont know of any galants that are done yet, i know there are a few 3rd gen eclipses that are running around awd already... Awesome! They had an awd one in Japan, did they not? Yea the VR4 is pretty bad a**, but it came with a 6A13TT...2.5, DOHC, V6 twin turbo. I must do this... 1G AWD eclipses are the same underneath as 2G AWD eclipses?? -Robert they're completely different..it has to be from a 2g. probably won't finish it for a while...gonna wait till i find a great deal on a wrecked evo to grab the drivetrain from; in the mean time im just driving it around with the rear end disconnected. 88TSI_Rob
Very interesting. I've seen a Dodge Avenger converted to AWD using 2G DSM parts so I guess it isn't that surprising that it can be done to a Galant as well. Is there any special reason you need an Evo 8 motor/trans? You could have swapped in the 2G DSM motor right?

TujinVR4
Could you use a 6A13TT and tranny with that rear end? Could probably get one fairly cheaply from a JDM engine importer
B00sted VR-4
Did you have to mod anything for it to bolt in? Please take more pictures if you can... This is genius!
Starwolf
What year did they come out with the GSX Galant? Ernie on these boards has one im pretty sure...and I know they are very rare. Im sure its way before the 99's. Any progress on this?

cali
Did you have to mod anything for it to bolt in? Please take more pictures if you can... This is genius! haha thanks! no real mods really...i had to drop some bolts in two new locations for the awd gas tank and the subframe but the holes were already there. i cut some sheet metal under the rear seat so i can access the fuel pump without dropping the tank but the shape was already stamped into the sheet metal. What year did they come out with the GSX Galant? Ernie on these boards has one im pretty sure...and I know they are very rare. Im sure its way before the 99's. Any progress on this? i think the galant gsx's were in 91 and 92...very rare indeed. no updates really....this is my daily driver and money is tight right now and i vowed not to work on the galant until i get the starion running. did add some tsx projectors and a lip for my jdm front end. here's an updated pic and a pic from MOD '09. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jdmgalant4g63T/Daily%20Driver/blackgalantw-vogue1-small.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v662/jdmgalant4g63T/Daily%20Driver/mod09.jpg
