looking at that bottom pic i think i am going to run to the autoparts store and see if i can find a adapter to fit the old piece into the new pump.

i wasnt able to find an adapter to make the pump work but once i pulled the intank filter i knew there were more problems then just the pump. the tank is pretty rusty and i ended up pulling the tank and pump from my 87 so its down right now until i find a donor tank. it is a little hard to tell if its rust or just old gas caked to the inside but i had to swap the filler necks also because the 84 filler neck was very rusty. if i would have put gas in that filler neck it would have flushed all kinds of rust down into the tank.

once i got the tank installed i hooked direct power to the pump and remove the line running to the TB and let it pump gas until the gas turned clear and i did this with the old fuel filter still installed. once i saw it was clear i changed out the fuel filter and started it up and the car purrs like a kitten.

haha....i actually did the first burn out in the car last night in the little parking lot behind my house, and it was for scientific reason to verify if the car has a LSD. happy to report it left two nice black marks on the pavement...lol.

and i promised the nice burnout in the widebody and i have no problem with that once i get the tank back in it since its getting sold hopefully. should have it running again tonight so maybe tomorrow i will break out the camera and have at it, the tires dont have 50 miles on them and are brand new so i better get a little use from them before i sell it.

i just got a email back from the ebay buyer i bought the pump from and they said i can return it for a refund. it will probably cost me $5-6 bucks to send back a $25 pump so its a toss up if i will even bother with it. i guess that would be enough to maybe order some new spark plugs or something...lol.

well i did not return the ebay  pump because i picked up a tank from larry and it had a pump on it but when i hooked up power to it nothing happened. so with some backyard mechanics, a drill, pieces of hose, about 4 hose clamps and a couple other pieces i got the pump to adapt to the 87.

it kinda sucks that its not a direct bolt on pump because the old pump was showing about 34psi at idle and this ebay pump is showing about 38psi. its a tad noisy to hear it running by itself but you cant hear it once the car is running. either way they are both running again.

if you want to sit it to the side somewhere (maybe draw yourself  a map...lol) i may get it from you just to have a back up pump. the new ebay pump went in the 87 and the 84 has the old 87 pump that came out of a donor parts car. its been working fine since 2008 but we all know if it will fail it will be at the worst possible time....lol.

it would be nice to just have in a box in the hatch on the way to Branson just in case. :)

LOL.

trust me we always travel with tools and spare parts, the first time we went to branson i had enough stuff packed in the back that we could fixed just about anything short of engine block failure.

this time we wont be taking as many parts because we dont have a bunch of extra parts anymore and there will be three of us packed in there on the way down this time.
