JessN16
Factory clutch only lasted 21 years; what good are some of these parts these days? ;-) Anyway, I'm thinking about Spec and Clutchnet as replacement options. Anyone have any feedback on these? I doubt I'll need more than a Spec 2 or Spec 2+; I have no idea what I'd need from Clutchnet as I've only recently heard about them. Fanta
nice! clutchnet bases theirs off of green, yellow, red going from stock to racing applications. Then you have different pucks and sprung hubs and non-sprung ( you will want sprung more than likely since you're not operating a racecar ) Chances are though you could probably walk into your nearest Autozone and get the same clutch - but they're not bad, I'm running one with an ACT Heavy Duty PP ( wish I went with ACT clutch disk too in hindsight, would have been cheaper in my case since I put it all on rush order and its always good to keep same manufacturer parts)
redskinjay
Geez Jess you must have been riding that clutch alot for it to last only 21 yrs. lol. I just received some info from clutchnet as I was looking at all my options on getting another quest on the road for Gatlinburg. Too me they're nothing special, just another option. Shelby
Jess i can't recall right off what yr your car is but if you have a 240mm fly wheel most clutch set ups will do you good , if you have a 225mm fly wheel truth is they will not hold nearly as well as the 240 does,, with out excessive pressure on the crank brgs
Elkidmino
I have 48,000 miles on a SPEC II clutch on a 240mm flywheel. The pedal feel is very much like stock, a little tougher, but still very manageable. I'll be the first to admit that I beat the living snot out of the car and the clutch has held up to clutch kicks, nitrous, boost, slipping, down shifting, engine braking, 4000rpm drops, and 2nd gear burnouts on a roll. It was jittery for the first 3,000 miles or so, but it's loosened up after that, no more shuddering. I am very pleased with it.

It's an 87. This car must be streetable first and foremost so I'm not looking to put a monster in it. As you can tell by the factory clutch lasting me 21 years, I don't do a lot of jackrabbit starts. Jess I love my spec II, after a day you even notice the very slight petal difference between it and stock. you will however, notice the difference when you hit the gas. Edited March 22, 2008 by WickedTSI
pure_insanity
jess, you dont need all of these more expensive clutches. i recomend a sachs clutch. ive had great luck with them and they arent all that expensive either.

(g) Jess about what i figure'd but it's not how you drive that kills the 225mm it's the engine tourqe once you get to where the 88/89's power is the clutch will not handle it ,if you have the 240 fly wheel just get a brand name clutch set and you'l be fine ,i got one for arround $125 for a borg-warner that held great,,no need to spend 300-to 500 for a clutch the way you drive Edited March 23, 2008 by Shelby
