So the vacuum pump is not functioning in my 87 and I have a replacement pump but it's from an 84/85. The electrical connector looks to be the same and it looks identicle to the one in my 87 minus having different mounting brackets. It looks like I can just swap the brackets over to the 84/85 pump and bolt it right in. My question is how do I know if it would be compatible with my 87 and work correctly other then doing the work and finding out? Has anyone used a vacuum pump from an earlier year and have it function in a later model year?

all the plug does is power. The pump bracket is different because of the vac pump was mounted on the opposite side up front on the earlier years.
