  1. Sorry I got this when I was quoting, what do I turn off to directly copy a post? This car ran the same with any rear gear and turbo, actually the best with the 17C? WOW! Gears did not help the et. Not even the 60'. Did the 19C take a bit more to rev, I mean it is only a mm larger inducer than the 17C if I remember right. nice to know but is this comon? Mark
  2. Thanks guys. I saw the same posts, same problems as when I left and I was thinking it would heva been resolved by now. Street with OD would be my interest. I have a '99 Mustang GT convertible to sell and then find the Quest I want, which is likely very rare. An '88/'89 that has the auto for the larger tunnel and BLACK paint. I once bought a black parts car and thatg car looked TOUGH. I'd run no emblems. It's amazing how many people don't know what the quests are:) I'd make it harder to figure out. My '88 Conquest had a Top Line motor, yeah and it ran strong! You know, Kelly's favorite vendor, probably hangs with the owner, LOL I know you have your own site kelly but if you read this, just kidding! I've forget the guy's name. I do remember calling thee and he would answer and I'd ask if this was ************ and he would timidly say, yyyy....e..a...h, this is *****. Now I know why. Man I got lucky sending my motor from near Syracuse NY to Hollywood, Ca. back then. Had to change the auto to the 5-speed in that black car. I have heard of Level 10 before but have not checked to see if anyone has tried them with a big turbo like a 20G. I do have to add after going tru several turbo;s and an '89 Starion and that '88 that the 20G with a TDO6 housings would be the way to go. I had a 20G, a converted 19C I believe done by MiamiMachine, but that 17mm wastegate was so small! I had to use the boost gauge to shift. 25psi was the shift point, cannot remmber the rpm in any gear but it pulled so HARD, almost like the '93 DSM that followed. I'd find a Spearco 2-221 FMIC or similar and use 9:1 compression for some stretability. Buschur built me a motor with 9:1 and that car ran 1.68/11.68/122mph for bests on street tires. Quickest & fastest car anyone from the bohemoth days had ever ridden in. A guy called it a weedeater and I said "No, it's a MOPAR". Took him for a ride and half way through third gear he said, "that's enough"! Heck that's when the Holset HX35/40 was reaching full boost, 30psi. That car had a 3-step stutterbox and launched it at 4750rpm and it launched at 10psdi already built up and ran 0-60 in 3.6x seconds! 8500rpm redline. I asked David(Buschur) what was the redline and he said the motor was good for 10,000rpm but a dyno would be needed to see where my power fell off. Never did up to 9,000rpm. Oh well, a Starquest is what I want, the BEST quality cars I have ever owned. 4 back surgeries and another on the close horizon makes an automatic needed. My mustang has a 3800rpm stall converter that locks up at WOT after each shift and an OD that allows me to run 4.10's while it ends up with a 2.86 in OD. That is what I want with a new Quest. Unfortunatly it seems that it is still a fab work undertaking. That or try the Level 10. I still can't believe the tranny comes with a 3,00rpm stall converter. It sems like it is about 2200rpm. The problem is getting that 2.6L truck motor to run a sub 2.0 60' with an IRS rear, not condusive for good sticking. Many cobra's have switched to live axles for that very reason. Mustangs running 1.5x 60' times is common. Since we have a 281 c.i. motor most go with a pwer adder wether it is a SC, NOS or the best, a turbo or two! They simply refer to trubo's by the inducer size so a 50 trim would be a T-50. A/r's are foreign to them and T3, T4 turbine housings are also not a concern, just buy what the kit has. I liked the turbonetics 60-1 when I ran it though it was weak and I had mine replaced once, maybe twice. Revs quickly, can flow 60lbs/minute and flows a lot at low rpm's too. Still the best set-up 20G would be hard to beat. I understand Topdawg43 still has the 20G I sold to him several years ago! Please excuse my typing as it is early. mark
  3. Guys, it's been abou 4 years since my last Quest, which I bought as an auto, with a fresh build and 10k miles on it, done at 62k miles. This was a 2 women owned Quest and I went through the tranny in 5K miles, starting nwith the loss of OD. I tracked down the builder who remembered the car who told me that tranny is good for a 100HP motor and even if he rebuilt it Im would go through it in 10K miles. Well, a few of the old timers here, regulars who may not be around like Mike_K, the Boosted_One, maybe Shelby, Chad, had spoken about going auto in the future as age made shifting the car a drag. There was a new fellow around the same time that was doing rears with either 3.90's or 4.22 gear set-ups for the rears. A 3.90 with the typical 68%OD, 32% reduction, those 3.90's become like having a set of 2.6x's. Cool, Huh? Never heppened though did it from the titles I see here. This is a place where a tranny guy could make himself a nice niche market that would be quite popular and profitable. The stock converter is supposed to have a 3000rpm stall converter but I don't believe it. Take first gear of the tranny, say a 2.80 times the rear gearing(3.90's) and that is over a 10:1 for first and add the better than 2 times the torque at launch and it is a sub 2.0 60' for sure. Drop into OD and the revs drop to about 2200rpm at 65mph! ACCELLERATION & MILEAGE! I've been thinking of selling/trading my '99 Mustang GT convertible with aluminum Teksid block for another Conquest, preferabbly an '89 with BLACK paint and an auto and the SHP option. Asking for too much? Add a 20G with the TD06 housings and/or the wastegate that would allow the boost to be controlled, a couple of additional injectors in the "Y" of the intake manifold and a GM MAF translator in a blow thru position from the 1G DSM mod and a low 13 second ride should be fairly simple from there. Add a DIY RAI/CAI and a solid inlet pipe with Kelly's piping, exhaust with a glasspack in the mid section with an 18" body Magnaflow with dual 3" exhaust outlets and chrome silencing tips on those ansd you have a NO DRONE free flowing exhaust. Speaking of, has anyone done a long tube header for the car? I don't remember if that is practical but a stepped header with a merge collector would scavenge the cylinders with the right cam and fill the cylinders with a full, cool charge of fresh air and fuel. Well, I'll stick to the auto for now. Nobody has adapted an OD tranny to the G54B yet? One capable of handling 300whp and with OD and a stall converter that locks after the shifts? Thanks, Mark
  4. Sorry about the name blank Shelby. medication has certainly played brain drain with me. Coming! Well, gotta go as my sleeping pill has called! Peace guys.
  5. Hey Tim, did you ever use that '85 turbo? I was saved on 12/2/2000 just about the time I got rid of the Conquest. In fact I just got home from a Bible study about an hour or so ago! Nice to see fellow Disciples online. Old friends are now just OLD! No longer friends when you change, at least that has been my experience. late again so maybe more tomorrow. Too bad about Mike_K as I liked him. How about automatic trannies in quests, has anyone come up with a strong OD version?
  6. Hey guys, thanks for the remembering! Top Dawg, you still have that 20g! Did you change the wastegate and the 17mm hole? I had to shift that motor at 25psi because that turbo had such a small wastegate hole. You had a son if I remember, at least you showed a young man in your sig. Phinko, I spent more time telling you the England thing would go quicker than you thought and you would have memories that would last a lifetime. Is she still with you? Nice memory anyways if not and if she id s gone remember the nice things and forget the bad. I always felt like a mentor to you. A mental mentor, LOL MikeK is gone, wow, how sad as he was one of the beginners. Chad, the only guy with a 4V head for the quests, right? Or do you keep that secret? Has to be locked in a safe! How about the guy in the air force based near Va. Beach. He had a yellow car with an '83 hood? Yeah bad back. Now my daily regimine is 12 tabs of 10mg Methadone. 12 tabs of 8mg. of Dilaudid(8 times stronger than Morphine) 60mgs. of Dexedrine as the narcotics and 40mgs. of Valium put me to sleep like a baby. I had a morphine pump embedded in my abdomen for 5 years but it went spastic and had to be removed. It was up to 25mgs. delivered right to my spine with a catheter daily. The nurse said she had never done such a high does in 15years of pain relief. Now I should get a pump that they can put stronger meds into than Morphine as that is for kids and those who are totally Opiate naive. Some Dilaudid in a pump should work wonders. Mark "ELVIS" SWEET. I'll be around. Post some pics of the Mustang as it is mine with that much invested. The sad thing is it has only gone 12.75 @ 108.1. My Talon with the HOLSET(Remembered-great) did get working and that car ran 1.68/11.68/122 for bests and with a DSMlink chip with a Pro Tune would have gone 10's at 130mph+ so it is all in the heads. I saw a guy here who appears to have a Syclone motor or maybe just the turbo BUT W/TURBO 400 tranny! Has the auto tranny strong enough to handle the Quests been resolved? I'd really love an '88/'89 Black with an Auto(changed to a strong 700R4) and the 3.90 gera change and a 20g done right. I now know just how I would build it and have my dreamcar. To those who do not know me I apologioze for my way off the line wandering last night. By the way where can I get that smokeable meth? To anyone I missed I'll be back so you are warned:)
  7. Well, it's been another 3 years and the last time Mike just laughed at the MUSTANG I had bought. Well $30k later it is having the motor pulled again b ut i had to hire it out and please excuse spelling thius time as it is late and I am tired and need my medication(s). YEP! $30k in a $7k car, typical. At least it's a Florida car and a convertible and has a white top and white leather. Not into leather interiors but white cloth just would get dirty awfully quick. I know several here but cannot remember any names exceptfor Toto, has anyone seen Toto? There's no place like home, where else would I want to run away from? Problem is I am now collecting my pension and am afraid to run away:( The government sends me a check each week to entice me to abdicate the throne but i am so mentally constipated I am afraid to move. Then the company where I worked had insurance against what happened so they send me some cash too. Soon I will have my 5th back surgery so that triop top Florida seems not likely but you never know. One sharp blow could be all it takes. Anyone have an immaculate Black '88/'89 Conquest, prefer an auto as i cannot shift anymore much that they would trade for a built mustang drop top? Color could be negotiabkle, yours, not mine. Mine is going to be that rare 3 stage silver base with red overcoat gioving it a slight metalflake look with red clear coat, an OXYMORON. Who ever saw a clear coat? Mr. Spock did have too much LDS back in the 60's, 70's too. How about that man from Ocala, Florida, the Lord hasn't taken him home has He? Then there was that fellow in San Fransisco who was out of work, nice guy who i considered a friend. Then there was the fellow who did regrind cams. He bought that '85 turbo from me, like new with ZERO play. Mike of course, the boosted one. I think he was retiring from this scene last I "spoke". Well spread the word if anyone rememb ers, there was a guy in St. Mary's river Florida, a contractor with more kids than I've had cars. So much has changed. I saw a gfuy with an awesome mod lidt that included a TURBO 400 tranny! So the auto dilemma has been resolved? How abolut a 700R4, anyone do that or any strong auto with OD? Then there was a guy doing gear setups, 3.90's(best) and even 4.22's, not enough OD for that unless a 5-speed has been done in an auto with 50% OD. Has it? Otherwqise it is 3.90's and the 700R4 with a Buick 425 Nailhead. If it could hook it would run high 11''s and it would FIT and is among the lightest motors built of that size. With an aluminum intake it weighed the same as a SBC! Then, to stay turbo here is that 215 V8 buick did in '61-63. The last year it put down 200HP with 11:1 and a 4-bbl & duals. Not bad for a 2700lb. car, maybe less. Take that, Rovers still use them, and turbo it, Being an all aluminum block and intake it is alsolight, 300=lbs is all. Handle and go fast. Man I miss the Conquest. Nlotmany awesome examples around are there? I'dhave to bget cash and the car flor the mustang. It has an SVO intake on ported heads(210/175CFM) and an aluminum block made in Italy .020" over with forged and balanced internals with a nice 230/234* cam and rare Edelbroick headers, Borla Pro XS muffs, NO DRONE! Well lots molre like 4/.10's and a 3800rpm locking converter, even locks in 2nd at part thrrottle and at WOT always:) 315's out back and 275's up front on FR5's. Lots mkore. Mark Wasw it Lloyd? Ocala, Florida and a stickler for getting then injector clips and studs cleaned with sand paper. By the way Iam the grandfather ofmthe BIG primary injector as I was the oine tom doiscover that the older cars such as the '85 came with 2 1080cc inj's and nit the 2 550's that everyone thought. Did they ever do that statue/
