Murcielago vs Supra

Geez, when the Supra blows past the lambo it sounds like a jet flyin by.

Put a really big turbo on a quest and run 20+ PSi, it sounds about the same... :sunglasses:

A lot of what you hear is actualy the WG dump tube. The high pitch whine is the compressor wheel, but the jet woosh sound is exhaust exiting the WG at full manifold pressure (20+ PSI) at a velosity of several hundered miles per hour.

I like how in the first race they were both playing with each other, then the lambo guy floors it and looks forward like he is going speed off, then the supra says good by.

One thing though, the lambo has or had a warranty as it is. I bet that guy is seriously considering a little boost now.

There is no better bang for the buck car than a SupraTT. Extremely strong power train. One of a kind looks. A friend here has a white one. He has about 60k in it including the price of the car. He's smoked everything on the street including a 427 Shelby Cobra. The thing is just scary but fun to drive. It will be my next and last sports car.

I wonder if the guys putting down 7-8-900 horsepower, have done little/any modifications to the drive train? doesnt seem likely, but if they dont, and they can run that much HP, thats really impressive.

and being that they can produce that much power from a 2.5l 6 banger, is even more impressive.

too bad they cost soo much. gotta save up a long time for one of those.

2JZ's are 3.0L's, and some of the big power guys run a 3.4L stroker. The 1JZ is the 2.5L I6.

They are NOT cheap to build to that level. Building for 500-700rwhp isn't that bad, and can be just a single turbo, piggyback and injectors away. The costs can get WAY out of hand real fast though.

Price out some twin or triple disk clutches for their getrag 6spd and see how much you need to spend. lol How'd you like to drop $4500 for a clutch?

FullRace makes a fantastic tubular manifold, from T4's to T6's with twin external WG's.. $2400 right there.

$4000-5000 Motec, $2100-2800 Pro-EFI or Autronic standalones.

$1400-1800 turbo.

Titan 3.4L shortblock, $14,500. 3.4L stroker parts(kit), $6700-7600.

Stage 2 550hp turbo kit, $5500-6000.

Stage 4 850hp turbo kit, $9500.

Stage 6 1050hp kit, $11,500.

Stage 8 1325hp kit, $30,000.

Stage 10 race 1500hp kit, $40,000.

Stage 1 through 4 heads, $3500-5500.

Carillo rods, $1200-1600.

Greddy rods, $2600.

CP pistons, $900.

Greddy pistons, $1700.

L19 head studs, $700.

Billet main caps, $550.

Virtual works intake manifold and 90mm TB, $2400.

Even the OEM head gasket is $150.

I rebuilt my G54B for less than it cost to get a single HKS exhaust cam and camgear for my 2JZGTE Lexus.

Can they be bad? Absolutely. Will you pay a premium for it? No doubt about it.

Look at all those prices listed above, now factor in $20,000-25,000 just to get the car. If someone is really interested, find one for $35,000-40,000 that's already putting down 850rwhp or more and save yourself tens of thousands of dollars.

Cost of Supra=$25,000.

Cost of 1300rwhp=$30,000.

Cost of destroying your $15,000 motor due to a front main seal=priceless.

:)

The driver might not be able to, but that car is definitely capable.

There's been Supras in the 10's with the stock twin turbos.

This "top 100" fastest thread here: http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=350525

Funny how the number 100 slot is still a 10.37@135.

Mech, if I remember right from this same video on youtube, the supra driver also owns that lambo.

SupraTT's can be expensive but they are still much cheaper than anything in their class. They also hold their resale value and it will only rise due to it's rarity.

I don't think you'll find an 850hp Supra for 35 to 40k. If you do buy it now. A good low mileage stock or mildly modded one will cost 30k minimum. You could find one for less if you want a project but I do agree that if you want to save money buy one someone has already dumped money into and is taking a loss selling it. Kinda like the cars on this site.

Yeah, I hear you.

There's a couple for sale on Supraforums.

One totally stock 97(1 of 21 in the USA) with 37K miles for $46,500.

One 93.5 for $50,000. 80K miles, completely built and made 955rwhp while losing traction on the dyno without running full boost.

One 94 for $36,000, 660rwhp setup for road racing etc..

There's a 96 NA-T for $22,000, makes 550rwhp on low boost with a SP74 turbo thats good for 1025hp.

Here's a good one. It's a 95 JDM RZ edition and weighs roughly 3100lbs. 550rwhp on pump and low boost, 845 on race gas.. $36,000. 27K miles. All mods have less than 5K miles.

Someone's also selling a fat nasty 93.. Completely built(I mean completely), 3.4L stroker.. 1402rwhp Looking for $75K.

Yeah, pretty much.

Ryan Woon's car(from WOTM here in AZ) is like that(closer to or over 1500rwhp). There's a video of him racing a turbo'd hyabusa. He left 30-40 foot strips of drag radial rubber from an 80mph roll.

He has an in-car video of him going down the strip, pretty intense with a six speed.

Something everyone needs to know if they don't already an NA Supra does not have the same internals as a TT. Go on I-Supra.com and read the differences. It's not capable of the same HP numbers without exploding. Most of the cars under 30k are NA. Kinda like buying a base model Vette. Nuthin but a poser.
