hey everyone...

since i originally posted this topic for carbon parts ive had numerous responses from quite a few members. so far ive had only 3 people that have expressed intrest in the parts. and only one offering cash in hand to get going on them.

honestly im a bit frustrated at some of the PMs ive been getting saying that i should make the molds and parts first, then people might/will buy em. ive also been getting PMd saying that im too high on prices... im offering my services with composite parts fabrication as a favor to you members, not to make a killing on profits. the cost of mold materials is not cheep, neither is the actual carbon fiber or the resins used for layup, not to mention the time it takes to prep molds correctly. im just not gonna spend the money if i dont have the preorders there already. the molds are the same for either fiberglass parts or carbon fiber parts. thats why if i get 10 orders in either/or i will start to make the molds right away. this is purely because i have a love for the car and am passionate about fabrication. some of you have been already waiting 6 months for parts, and i figured if i put my talents forward for the members, i could help your cars be ready for summer..FOR SURE......with a variety of parts it seems like many want, if im pulling molds off my car so i can make other members parts for their rides id like just a bit of respect, considering that it puts my paint and car in need of hours of work to recover from the mold work i do for the benefit of others.

so, again, 10 prepaid orders, and i will get molds made within a few days from there. after that the parts will be made on a daily basis. so if you preorder today, and have 9 others that do the same, i will have parts being SHIPPED WITHIN TWO WEEKS for the first one, and almost daily afterward. basically like i said before you could have your part by the end of this month without any problems.

--for those who are/were interested in the parts, could you please resend me a PM due to the message board resetting ive lost track of some of the members interested in getting parts made. thanks

also keep in mind that because im doing these on a per order basis i do have the ability to make the parts in not just carbon fiber, but also black/blue, black/red, and the standard black/gold carbon kevlar... just in case for those that might want it to match their cars a bit better....

and if you really want to do something cool, i can do parts in the silver texalium--itll cost more but that would be sick on a silver car!!

Realy people are complaining about the price? Ha! theres some real peeices of work around here sometimes. My main concern honstly would be being burned, scams are commen place on the internet anymore and your relitivly low post count just scares alot of people away with investing. We have had a scam or two in our small community so please understand thats on alot of peoples minds. Ease peoples minds and they will come. :) I myself am interested in 2 at that price given a lil time, I'm in the middle of an MPI build right now. ;)

Well your not going to get a consensus from 10 people about what part to make.

My advice (for starters) is for you to pick a part that no one else makes, like the header panel,

that wont be too difficult or expensive (relatively). Let us know how much it will be, then see if you

could get 10 or more people to commit with a down payment.

And for the lowballers. Most people are used to ebay-china-honda-parts prices that are mas produced

and dont know how much time, labor, and materials that are needed for custom parts.

The more parts available for our cars the better, so good luck.

i am going to add a few cents not for arguments sake on anyone but ok 2 points here simple, you guys are all right especially when saying more info, being suspiscious etc we all know the crap that has happened here, the other hand IT IS very exensive so anyone and also whoever pm'd him bout issues on his price are nuts, carbon fiber air dam at 500 bucks is a very awsome price. i have done carbon fiber stuff for my own cars and such, nuthing crazy so no i wont make nuthin for people haha but its a lot of money for good stuff (and i get a good hookup through a company), for example various types, 2 ply, 3 ply etc, then on top of that u have thickness variations, cheapest real carbon fiber at a thickness needed for an air dam for our car most likely he is using 3 ply with resin and around 1.0mm thick would be 200 or more a sheet of 12"Hx2'L and that is not by any means going to do an air dam. 200 is cheapest i personally found. Carbon fiber is also on a shortage issue as well making it more money then ever. The personal deal on carbon fiber i get is around $35 shipped in 12"x18" 3 ply, pieces and it is just thick enough for what i need (about .63mm) used for custom panels, yadda yadda. and trust me that is a cheap price cus that same company sells that piece for 65 plus ship lol. stuff is not cheap. so to lowballers and the like read up on ur carbon fiber pricing and as Andy said ebay isnt gonna cut it if u want good stuff lol, however there is some good stuff on ebay but ur still paying money and it isnt too thick of stuff cus a thick good CF isnt cheap whether ebay or anywhere!!! so keep in mind to get even an 1/8" thickness is still bigger then .50mm, and .50mm is around 59 dollars in a 2 ply thin flexible 12"x12" piece typically not sturdy piece meaning no composite to keep it from being flexible which dont mean its just, it means ur gettin full fledge carbon fiber and u do what u want to form it OR to make it a stiff piece depending what u want to do. Anyway yes i think you should put up some pics and all of your work and ease minds. One of the biggest burns was the dohc head casting lol This could get just as expensive for people to just toss dough to you for doing the molds, unfortunately i know its expensive and you would like funds fronted, but if you do make 1 of say, an air dam, header panel, wutnot you will sell those if no one does come through to buy. i say go ahead and do so if you have the money to front. Especially if u can beat the 700 plus shipping for the 83 hood in carbon fiber that is offered on ebay. Someone will surely snatch up the first one and u got ur money back if u can indeed keep funds down or even a stocker hood in carbon fiber. It's not wrong for people to not want to front money cus its not as though many of us here or anywhere have money to just risk lol I'm not bill gates and no one else here is. Point here is just maybe try doing something to look serious (not sayin ur not) but maybe get ur site up and going and such and also as stated post up some pics of stuff u have done. Good luck man and hope it turns out good cus we all know we need stuff!!!! I for one will be in to get some things cus i cant make things with carbon fiber that have to be formed all i do is fab up from stiff panels to make wut i need that is flat and such and just needs to be cut into needed dimensions and shapes.

ooh, I would love a header panel in cf. Maybe some headlight covers in cf. What about interior pieces? My armrest cover is starting to fade and a cf replacement would be nice to have.

Hello, fellow Minneapolis dweller. What local boards are you on? mnscc? mitsustyle? lemme see some of your work.

header panel and/or headlight covers/housings would be sweet.

post pics of your stuff here, show it on your car first, like 101PROPOSE, that guy is doing it right, basically just telling people what he will make and doing it. If you can do that with some unique, good looking parts, you will have yourself some business.

How does it go?..."Build it and he will come". Since 101 is already doing the airdam and hood, it'd be more advantageous for you to make something different...

I think the following would all be hits:

Header Panel

Head Light Covers

Vents behind Doors

Front Fenders

Rear Spoiler (stock mold)

internal pcs: Radio bezel, center council etc.

In my opinion...the header panel, headlight covers and internal trim pcs would be automatic sellers. I've only seen a small handful of Starions/Conquests with a nice header panel...the rest are all dented/warped.

If you make any of these three parts, I (for one) will buy.

Just me 2 cents.

John
