kinree
That ram will not work as its DDR3 240pin. Your pc is DDR 184pin. Also if your operating system is 32bit you won't be able to use more than 3.25gb of ram. You would need something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231039
button
kinree, the ram looks to be for the new board. everything looks like it will work in the old case. it's not a bad deal if you are only looking to do it cheap. if you have more money, I'd suggest getting into an intel cpu. my only concern is if your dvd drive is ide. the new board doesn't have ide. so you might need a sata dvd drive, but those are cheap now. and you will probably get a stop 0x0000007b unless you put the bios in "native" or "ide" mode. creakyjoints
Thanks guys. Trying to do it cheap. It is basically just used for the net and HD movie watching. The processor I have now isnt really cutting it for 1080p. Seems like with this setup I wont have any problems anymore.
button
You will be fine with that setup, I would highly suggest getting into windows 7 or 8 x64 (64-bit)to take full advantage of it though. You can install either as a trial and decide which is right for you.http://malwaretips.c...dows-7-sp1-iso/ http://technet.micro.../windows-8.aspx just don't put in a key and it is a trial. MikeMeyerhoff
You could drop back to 4gb of ram to save some $. Especially once you get win7, its just not needed. Put that bit of savings towards an SSD and you'll love it.
button
Granted, an SSD is worth every penny, but ram has been rising. what he saves now will probably cost him later, where an SSD will get cheaper.
Shelby
sorry but that power supply is too small , go with a 500 -600 minimum these dual core cpu's can use up to 90 watts or more ,,better too big then not big enough pos : I hate mini towers
