  1. maybe from a galant 2.4. on a 2.0 d50 trans. But I would use a 2.0 head on the 2.4 Block. Many DSM are using that hybrid. The 2.4 Head is limited at price/HP. I just found a 2.4 wide for $100. So Im going to use my starquest tranny. I think the newer 2.4W have the squirters. Im not worried about them. If you go to a race specialty machine shop they can machine the bottom end for more oil flow, and get a larger race pump. The 2.6 had the same problem with the squirters. The oil flow sucked.
  2. So Do I get credit if it works? I was the original poster. Im just happy to see that others are interested with the Idea. Honestly I hate the 2.6 g54. In 3 years I went through 4 bottom ends & 2 Complete Remans. I tried different break in methods, oil, bearings, race preped rods, all the crap did not hold up. Ive never seen a car spin as many bearings in my life. I dont know who said that a g54b bottom end is bullet proof... they must be granny shifting and only taking it around the block on sundays. Ive had a few starquests and with frequent oil changes they only lasted about 3500 miles before I had to tear them down, and replace the #2 or # 3 rod bearing. I tried reman long blocks and different machine shops and all of it was for nothing. My car was garage kept without my will. Anyway, Im not sure what head you guys are thinking of running, but Im going to do a 2.0 / 2.4 Hybrid. I have a rwd 2.4 D50 Block and a 2.0 1 gen head. The block has 4 Water passages that need to be filled before assembly. I like the 2.0 head because of the available parts. SS Exhaust Manifold, Custom Intakes w/ LT1 or 5.0 TB's, better springs, valves... etc. Anything that a DSM 2.0 guy can bolt on we can too. Plus you can get a Cyclone with 8 Injectors (4 Primary & 4 Secondary) Relocate the TB to the other side and you have your self a Real Good Intake. Granted the cyclone is known to suck on 2.0's, but Im sure it has more potential than our crappy 2 Injector setup or the Aussy MPI. Plus you can use a $50 2 gen ECM rather than a $2,000 Haltech. Why should we settle for the original Motor when the V8 boys havent in 50 Years. All us Starquest fans always talk a good game, but we all know that there are only a handful of us that really back it up. Granted are cars are good to go up against older Stangs, but the newer technology is leaving us behind. I hope you guys get it going and we get to revolutionize the Starquest Scene. It would be nice to see more options for Starquests. BTW wiseco sells the pistons for the 2.0/2.4 conversion. I guess alot of DSM are doing the hybrid. Thanks,
  3. Ok has anyone read the begining of this thread..... I wrote it. I dont car what you want to do to you car. Im not saying my idea is better for you and your ideas suck. The point I was trying to make when I started this thread was about the LargeBell Housing 2.4 w/ a 2.0 head on our tranny with only motor mount fabrications and throttle body relocation. Im trying to keep my car a "sleeper and reliable & cheaper". If you want to talk about "fast drag cars" or dropping 25k on a chopped up car start your own thread.... dont change the subject of the thread. If you want to talk about a frankenstein car why dont we all drop a 500ci big block chevy twin turbo on nitro methane, and gut the thing to hell. I think we can get it to 2800 HP maybe we can break 4 sec in a 1/4 @ 235mph w/ a toyota tranny. Bla Bla Bla So do you get what Im saying..... Respect the thread... It was posted for a reason. I dont mind suggestions, but dont burn the topic up.
  4. The mighty max and the starquest have the same part #'s for the tranny I think.
  5. I dont think you some of you guys are getting my point.... The 90's Mighty Max or D50 came with a 2.4 that had our tranny. The block fits a larger bell housing and is already rear wheel drive. The 2.0 head fits on it as long as you plug the 5 extra holes... So why complicate things with FWD motor mounts and toyota trannys'... when all you need is the rwd 2.4 block, jdm 2.0 cyclone intake, head, and cpu.... 2 new motor mounts and patience. I forgot to mention the pistons and some stuff, but still its much cheaper, easier to get, and more reliable with comparable HP gains... Im not choppin my car up cause its mint. The 2.0 w/ a toy trans is a bad idea, but I wouldnt mind to have new technology under the hood. the 2.6 is a piece of crap.... no matter what you do, or who builds it, it blows. Im sick of spun bearings and broken rockers the thing wont hold 300hp reliably let alone the 500hp everyone brags about. Maybe thats why mitsu gave up on it too.... I have 3 2.6 blown engines for sale for anyone holding on to their sakura dream car... Good Luck
  6. Check out this link.... http://www.carotica.com/4g64/ I also think a few rally evo's use a 2.4 stroked with a 2.0 DOC head. I would try it now if I could find a 2.4 D50 / Mighty Max Block. Im from chicago and most of our Yards dont keep a good inventory and every yard that does wants $500+ for a long block. Its really hard to get a short block around here. I wish I could get one @ $100 then I could check the bolt patterns. If im right, I think I could build a Bullet Proof Block for under $800 capable of holding 650 HP easily with that hybrid combo. Granted Im not figuring in the head work and fuel management. But Im sure it will be more reliable and cheaper and more powerfull than a full tilt 2.6. Why spend $7K for 400-450HP when you can get more for half the price. Bobby
  7. I know some of us are really into the 2.6 in out conquests, but Ive been plagued with constant spun bearings for the past 5 years and the dilema of MPI & DOC. So, I have been looking for a alternative to the 2.6 and I found out the 2.4 from a Dodge D50 or Mighty Max might (95% chance) bolt up to our tranny with no mods!!!! (US D50/M Max Trannys have the same part numbers as the Australian 2.0 / 2.6s) Im pretty sure the US and Aussy Starquest Trannys are Identical. Now you might say why the hell would you swap our 2.6 for a 2.4. I found out that a 2.0 DOC Turbo will mate with a 2.4 Block... you just have to plug 5 water passages which are not used on the 2.0 head. So Im looking for some input on my dream of having a JDM 2.0 head on a stroked 2.4 block with all the mods available for a 2 gen eclipse. Im just sick of constantly rebuilding for minimum benefits. Bobby
