Holset HX 40 set-up

Recommended Posts

well since holset are hot right now on SQ's. I will show my set-up as well.

I'm using a moded stock manifold from TEP. T3 w/out ex-waste gate

HOLSET HX-40w. 18cm exhaust side. 4" in 4" out

DODGE 4" downpipe for hx 40

the turbo sits in the stock location. very little is needed to put one on a SQ. Next i'll be working on the intercooler piping

THIS ALL TEST FITMENTS ONLY

That is huge! A friend of mine has a 2g talon, 6 blot, 2.3 stroker, set up for track and uses the same HX-40 turbo. He runs well over 1000cc injectors and hits boost over 35psi...That Holset is no joke....

What do you plan to run for fuel?

well i was thinking about tryin it with the TB and 2 1000cc inj. but i have JE block, P/P clearwater head adj rocker set up, adj cam gear, paxtom kamikaze fuel, pump, EIP cannon intake with 1000+ cc injectors, Electromotive Tec 2, fidanza flywheel, and more

i'm hoping 450hp at around 26-28 psi

The stock exhaust manifold is not going to be able to flow enough air to spool that HUGE 18cm2 turbo. You will need a header at minimum for that turbo IMO.

From what I have been reading about holsets, your best bet is to buy the bullseye performance turbine housing that they offer for DSM's and then just adapt the exhaust. Here is where I read up on it;

Best thing to do is get the specs on the turbine and talk to someone at bullseye and they should help you out. I was actually able to get factory specs from the maker of the turbo and just email them to bullseye and they hooked me up with the right housing that I need/looking for.

i'm tryin to find the right housing for it but i havent had any luck

What housing are you looking for? If you are looking for holset housings for it, the smallest direct fit housing for the hx40 that i know of is gunna be a 16cm. Another alternative would be to have a 12cm hx35 housing machined out for the hx40 turbine. If you want a BEP housing there are only 2 sizes, .55ar and .70ar. The .55 is mitsu flanged inlet and the .70 is t3 flanged inlet. They use to offer a .55ar t3 inlet, IIRC.

i have two heads. The one on the car is a tep stage 3. It came on the long block. And i have a P/P clearwater head with a mech setup. And both have cams.

I also have the option to run A t3 or Stock mits housing on the turbo. I think i will be goin with the .70ar t3 BEP
