Well over the past couple weekends I finished swapping in my black interior finally (I dyed a lot if my maroon and reused it. But now have pieces from 5 different cars making up my interior ha). So now I will begin my engine tare down and rebuild and also repaint my engine bay.. Going to be nice to have a clean car with a built block next spring :D

While waiting for the machine shop to bore and deck my block I've been keeping busy by powder coating my parts. I've never done any powder coating before so it's been a learning experience but thing are turning out pretty nice! Here's a few pics for you guys

And here's my valve cover powdercoated red and chrome. Each color done separately to avoid mixing.. So much time and effort in this but it turned out nice!

Masked off the stripes and baked on the chrome

And after the red stripes

And here's all the other parts

Thanks for looking!

About the build,

Decked block
Standard bore (fresh hone)
Forged Wisecos
Balanced crank and rods
Crank turned 10/10
Sealed power bearings
Arp rod and head studs
New M28 non jet valve head
Stainless valves
Shneider HD valve springs
Ajusa head gasket
New oil pump
BSE and new timing components
New water pump

This was my first complete rebuild and it went very smooth with the great parts and help with questions from Randy (DAD) and the help assembling the bottom end from my future father-in-law (machinist of 25 years).

Got everything put back in and had it running within about two weeks.. wasn't in a hurry and did a lot of other little things along the way like porting the manifold and turbine housing, wired in a battery cut off switch, modified my Funk Lock to not hit starter, tucked wiring, built my own braided power steering and oil cooler and fuel lines, built an aluminum shifter bushing for my MK1 short shifter, etc

heres the first start up video,

Enjoy!

Also Earlier this year I bought a black roller 87 with SHP rims and good tires for $400, I was stoked! The car is too far rusted out to save, but i needed a parts car anyways and wanted the extra set of rims.

My daily/farm truck :) love the tacoma almost as much as the quest

I took the mirrors and grille off this car and put it on my good car and I REALLY like the black accents with my black center/polished lip rims on the silver car. When I get around to it i will do the same to the SHPS but powder coat them instead of paint.

Running great so far. Got just under 500 miles on the rebuild.. In the next couple of days I'm going to change oil again and do a compression test. Also plan on upping the boost from 10 to 15 psi (and up to 20 at 1000 miles).

Great work man! Wish I had a lift like you. What is that muffler? Did it come with the tips/extensions on it already?

Here's the muffler I got.. I wanted the factory look with my 3" system. This one has a 2.5" inlet but other than that it's the same one I got. Didn't see the 3" one listed now http://pages.ebay.co...id=201245055498

Take the black fog surrounds off the parts car and put them on the silver. They look sooooo much better in black. Awesome work on that great looking motor.
