I've brought this up SEVERAL times and never gotten an answer. All my threads die out eventually cause I have better things to do than keep up on them every few days. I did love looking at that list every now and then just for comparison's sake.

Kinda gives me a little incentive and kick in the a** to get things going better than ever.

I set you an email, I said something about it, but what kind of proof do you want? I know in florida, they just wrote the last four digits of your social security number on the car and used that for the ID on the slip. Up here, I don't know, they just write the order of arrival, so it could be any random number.

Please let us know what's best for proof.

I think we can be trusted not to submit a time slip for a different car.

That would be pretty bad if a person felt the need to cheat just for bragging rights.

I agree, but shouldn't we at least require either a copy of the time slip or some type of proof?

Jimmy

I guess I didn't word it very well. A time slip would be sufficient. Some people may not have the ability to copy or send a time slip. I was thinking about what proof should be required from them? A few fellow questers for witnesses, a call from their mom, etc?? Input is appreciated so we can set it up right the first time and keep the same standards for all who submit a time.

On the old thread that was maintained by Andrew (Ultimate Lurker) you were not allowed to submit the 1/8 time if you were timed in the 1/4, only if you ran the 1/8 mile. How does everyone feel about this? Personally I don't see the reason to separate them like that. My thoughts are you ran that speed in the 1/8th mile regardless of how long the race was.

Everyone give me your thoughts.

Thanks,

Jimmy

I guess a picture/scan of your timeslip and giving your word are pretty good proof, and hey, it's not like this is a big community with a bunch of scammers. I would trust most anyone on here to provide a truthful account of what happened.

As for the 1/8 vs. 1/4. If you run the 1/4, usually they tell you what your mid track time and speed are, so why not include that in both 1/8 and 1/4? I have a problem with people estimating their 1/4 based on their 1/8 though. I think that should not be allowed.

I'd like it if timeslips (pics or scans) were posted on the thread like before. That makes it easy for all to see & compare 60fts, mph, etc. and see where the strengths and weaknesses lie in the run. This also eliminates any possible arguing over unseen claims and makes it easier for whoever keeps track of this thread (Jimmy).

I'd like to see 2 lists for 1/4 & 1/8 since many of us don't have access to 1/4 mile tracks. I'd like to hear what you guys think about posting an 1/8 mile time on the 1/8 list that was actually just the 1st part of a 1/4 mile run and have the total 1/4 mile time also posted. I'd prefer to just put the 1/4 mile time up only, so I guess one time posting per run IMO.

Can we contact Andrew to see if he saved his old code? Wouldn't surprise me if he did. Glad to see something come of it regardless. Hopefully many members still have their old slips/scans to resubmit.

I think a scan of the time slip should be required. This is 2008, everyone should be able to handle that.

We will have to trust that the slip submitted would be for the car.

Most tracks have both times lanes. We should circle our time.

I don't see why we shouldn't be able to use a 1/4 slip to also use on the 1/8.

Obviously you can't use an 1/8 time for the 1/4. We only have 1/4 tracks here and I don't have the power to put up good 1/4 numbers but I do run some nice 1/8 times.
